MANAGEMENT Year 1 Year 2 Year 3Establish Destination Conwy Programme Board - to co-ordinate the delivery of Conwy CBCresponsibilities and commitment to the Visitor Conwy.

Establish and promote ‘one stop-shop’ for reporting issues and problems – key contacts, telephone and web-details to be published.

Hold annual Destination Conwy Forum and elect Destination Conwy Partnership Management Group – toinclude business partners, attractions and other representative groups to ensure continued relevance anddelivery of Destination Conwy’s Action Plan.

Identify key problematic sites within the County boundary that under-mine the visitor experience and workwith partners to support the appropriate development plans.Llandudno: Pier Pavilion, Tudno Castle, Clarence Hotel.Conwy Town: Billingtons, ‘The Bomb site’, ‘Fruit and Veg’.Colwyn Bay: Victoria Pier.

Agree Destination Conwy implementation plan – to include in a pro-active way for Conwy CountyBorough Council to respond to street scene issues; signage, public conveniences, vandalism/graffiti, litter,sea-gulls etc.

Support the managed development of ‘town centres’ to under-pin ‘Purple Flag’ application in support ofevening economy.

Support the managed development of our parks, nature reserves and coastline which under-pin ‘Green Flag’and ‘Blue Flag/ Sea-side Awards’ applications.

To promote a Destination Conwy ethos towards Customer Service through training and on-going personaldevelopment of staff and partner organisations.

Destination ManagementThe key aim of Conwy’s Destination Management ambition is to deliver a consistently improvingdestination delivered through partnership working in a coordinated manner.Visit Wales defines Destination Management as:“…. Coordinating all the activities and services which impact onthe visitor and their enjoyment of a destination e.g. integrated transport, signage, footpaths, public conveniences,car parking etc.

Identify key future development projects and undertake feasibility work:-for repair and reinstatement of the Llandudno Pier Docking Facility for cruise ships, Waverley, Balmoral,Coastal Cruises.-for replacing the jetty in Llandudno; improving the slipways in Llanfairfechan, Penmaenmawr and thedevelopment of a new slipway in Llandudno.Llandudno: integrated transport; Tramway scheme Replica Period /vehicles.

Develop a strategy to maximise funding opportunities from external sources to include:European, Gwynt Y Mor Wind farm, M A P, VISIT WALES, TAITH.

Heritage TourismTo develop a strategy to strengthen Conwy town’s position as the gate-way for the story of the Welsh princes.Support the development and promotion of Conwy County’s unique heritage offer.

Support Strategic Events – in line with Conwy CBC’s Events Strategy actively support:• Commonwealth Mountain and Ultra Distance Championship 23rd- 25th September• Wales Rally GB 10th November – 13th November• ‘Parc Eirias Event Weekend – 27th-28th July, 2012

Destination MarketingMarketing of Conwy as a key destination for visitors from across the globe will be essential to ensure that Conwy’sexisting, internationally renowned brands of Llandudno, Conwy Town and Betws-y-Coed maintain their standing in thevisitor’s ‘must visit’ calendar. We will continue to build on our excellent partnership with Gwynedd Council through thebranding Snowdonia Mountains & Coast, to continue to develop joint marketing and websites and promote the tourismoffer within the Conwy Valley. At the same time endeavouring to further develop our portfolio by adding DestinationConwy’s emerging brands of Hiraethog, Conwy Coastal East and Conwy Coastal West as they mature and theirmarketplace recognition reaches its full potential.

MARKETING Year 1 Year 2 Year 3Rural DevelopmentProvide marketing support to promote Mountain Biking in Rural Conwy ProjectResearch & DevelopmentPromote the benefits of submitting data to STEAM (Scarborough Tourism Economic Activity Model)from suitable businesses.Maintain an accurate database on available bed stock within the county.Sheffield Hallam: Economic benefits of events to the County.Work with ‘Llandudno Conference Solutions’ – data and trade feed-back.Support CADW in developing a new gateway visitor centre in Conwy town, which will act as a gateway to thePrinces of Gwynedd story specifically promoting Deganwy and Dolwyddelan Castles.

Develop a strategy to ensure maximum impact and co-ordination of web-sites, branding opportunities etc.

Tourist InformationContinue to support Tourism Information Centres at our three key destinations:Llandudno, Conwy Town andBetws-y- Coed.Develop a network of interactive tourism kiosks, tourism information points & tourism information guides.
