Statement: The objective of the Division of Management, Marketing
and Business Administration is to provide students degree programs
whichafford a broad range of career opportunities for individuals
who desire to specialize in Management, Marketing, Hospitality
ServicesManagement, or General Business. In addition to a
well-balanced background in general education, the curriculum
includes corecourses in accounting, economics, data processing,
finance, and communication in order to establish a strong common
body ofknowledge in business administration. Management: The
management major is designed for the student with a broad interest
in management activities and problems. International Business and
Development: The international business and development track is
designed for students interested ininternational business.
Marketing: The marketing major is designed to develop individual
skills for use in the dynamic area of business which matches
theproduct offerings of a firm to the needs of its customers.
Hospitality Services Management: The hospitality services
management major is to prepare students for an entry-level position
inthe service industry. Gaming Management: The gaming management
track in the hospitality services management major address needs of
the gamingindustry and provides individuals with skills required to

faculty with approximately 80% being terminally qualified. The
Division offers 2 online programs to meet student demand.

2007-08 30 31. A 4.5 year average shows that the Division has
approximately 10% more majors than the Division of Accounting,
Computer Information Systems, and Finance . The Division is
responsible for 64% of courses for the business core. The Division
of Accounting, Computer Information Systems, and Finance is
responsible for 36% of courses for the business core. The Division
is responsible for 70% of the IMBA courses. The Division is
responsible for 67% of the Traditional MBA core courses. The
Division is responsible for GBA 204, a special degree requirement
for all business majors. The Division offers multiple courses for
the School of Nursing for the Masters level programs. The Division
has a proven history of eliminating majors with insufficient
enrollment. The Division has a proven history of allowing resources
to be used in high demand areas, for example the International
Business and Development Program. The Chair of the Division was
directed by President Hilpert to develop and implement a Gaming
Management Program. Little to no resources (faculty, travel,
training, equipment, etc.) has been provided since the programs
inception in the summer of 2006. However through effective and
efficient leadership, the program has approximately 30 majors and
continues to grow. The Division has developed a Corporate Education
Program and worked in conjunction with the DSU Foundation in

2007-08 35 36. A Gaming Management option has been added to the
Hospitality Services Management major to address the needs of
thegaming profession. Meetings have been held with various gaming
organizations and the first class was offered summer 06. Several
gamingclasses have been offered and have had solid enrollment
numbers. The Hospitality Services Management major has shown growth
which is expected to continue. The addition of the gaming
management option to the major provides growth opportunities as the
division strives to meeteducational needs in the hospitality and
gaming industries. International Business Symposium The second
annual International Business Symposium was held bringing attention
to the International Business andDevelopment Program. The symposium
helped to increase student interest in global business, recruit
students, retain students, build communityrelations, and build
university relations. The Division established relationships with
the esteemed speakers in the field of international business.
Scholarship Faculty presented at state, regional, national or
international conferences. Faculty published in journals, books,
and conference proceedings. Several faculty members participated in
DSUs Faculty Technology Institutes, which addresses the universitys
goal ofincreasing the use of technology in the classroom. Student

promote the division and College of Business. The divisions web

office to sponsor College of Business recruiting days. Faculty
