“The beauty lay in the rhythm of the objects, however ordinary they appeared.

This strip of gold for the one who lost its soul, waiting to

be picked.”

my take on the mirzapur junkyard

The rusted pathwayA long stretch of rumble that integrated well with its natural surrounding followed by a massive collection of vehicle parts stacked up. As random it looked, it was actually quite strategically placed.

What brings you hereI relate this photograph with my experience as an outsider in this place. The uninviting look and feel. The mysteries it held. The secrets i sensed.

Unusual harmonyIt was interesting how the place blended into nature. Uncommon and fascinating for a first timer.

Self appointed kingThis was the first person I had a conversation with. He took me around and claimed the territory like he reigned it.

Three stories of scrapAdding character to the space was this tree house of junk that seemed to me almost dripping off the building. As an design student, I took quite a liking to this.

The high contrast of light and shade are appealing to capture from the dark areas. An unusual angle. Which also hints about the dark realities that this place hides .

Mechanized This space revealed to me a very basic fact of our lives. The machine has become such an integral part of us, extensions of our own selves, creations than mould us in turn. a dependency we cannot do without.

To conclude, I’d like to elaborate on my fascination for the people were so familiarise with their space. They knew every nook and corner of the yard, and felt a sense of belonging to this odd location. An experience I shall not forget in the near future, for everything new and unusual it revealed to me.
