The 18 teams were divided into four groups, with the
group winners and the best runner-up advancing to the
quarter-finals.
Each of the four groups plays a one-round league with the
group winners and the best runner-up advancing to the
quarter-finals / knockout stage. The qualified teams to
advanced to quarter-finals stage were Superb FC, Arah
Rancang, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, APUDG Wolves
FT, D’Planners, Urban Scale, PLANMalaysia (HQ) and
JPB FC.
After heated and intense match, the 4 groups that qualified
for semi-finals match were Superb FC, Majlis Bandaraya
Shah Alam, PLANMalaysia (HQ) and D’Planners The
finals stage were held in afternoon session on the same
day. The match concluded at 3.00pm with the result as
follows :
Winner : Superb FC (JPRB, DBKL)
2nd Place : Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA)
3rd Place : PLANMalaysia (HQ)
Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) congratulate all

The Teh Tarik session is a casual meet-up among young planners to connect
to each other, and at the same time to mingle and to share views and
inspirations and discuss the direction, challenges and way forward of the
selected topic. With the informal gathering organized bi-monthly, we hope to
engage the young one with a dynamic and friendly approach and strengthen
the bonding among young planners.

YOUTH WING TEH TARIK SESSION
Teh Tarik Session @Earth Weekend, 13th

MIP Youth Wing conducted the 1st Teh Tarik
Session on 13th Apr 2019 in-conjunction with
Earth Weekend program at The School Jaya
One. The 1st Teh Tarik session hosted by TPr
Rene Fu as the newly appointed Chairperson
of Youth Wing MIP, 2019-2021, and TPr
Fathuddin Kamaruddin as the Chairman of
Corporate & Strategic Communication
Committee. The Teh Tarik session was
attended by 6 young planners to discussed
on the direction and a way forward for MIP
Youth Wing in the near future. We look
forward to the next meet up with our
members.
The Youth Wing Sharing Session was mooted to
provide opportunity for the young planners to be
actively involved in MIP and to inculcate the
professional knowledge and values in planning
profession. This is a platform for young planners to
gain knowledge, public speaking & presentation skill.
Through the sharing session, young planners will
increase understanding and awareness of the many
worlds of professional planning practice and gain One
(1) CDP. The sharing session is open to all MIP
members. Complementary seats are given to young
planner in order to encourage participation and
involvement of young planners in enhancement of
knowledge and professional youth development.

MIPYW started the sharing session for 2019 – 2021
term with TPr Mohd Zainuddin Jumaat on "Lembaga
Rayuan - Satu Tinjauan Awal Antara Hak dan
Kefahaman”. The session was held at MIPTC Training
Centre on 27th April 2019. TPr Zainuddin is the
Section Head for Membership and Volunteer, MIP
Youth Wing. He is also senior assistant director at
PlanMalaysia and former registrar for Selangor Appeal
Board. TPr Zainuddin shared with the audience his
experience as a former registrar and selected appeal
board cases followed by a good discussion with the
audience on the appeal board case studies.
MIP Youth Wing would like to record our appreciation
to TPr Mohd Zainuddin Jumaat for his contribution to

SHARING SESSION ON SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE PRACTICES AND
SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES BY MIP WITH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT THE
PERKHEMAHAN AHLI DAN BENGKEL GURU KELAB PENCINTA ALAM 2019
MIP was invited by MNS School Nature
Club (Kelab Pencinta Alam) as one of the
speakers for Perkhemahan Ahli dan
Bengkel Guru Kelab Pencinta Alam. Kelab
Pencinta Alam was first established in
August 1991 with seed funding from a
private company and in collaboration with
the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

Kelab Pencinta Alam was held on 25th –
26th April 2019 at Kem Latihan Belia
Negara Tg Rhu, Sepang. 12 schools
throughout Klang Valley attended this

shared her knowledge on Gaya Hidup
Rendah Karbon. Datin TPr Hjh Mazrina
urged participants to practice low carbon
lifestyle in their daily life. Save water, save
energy, save environment, recycling, eat /
bring home-cooked food were some of the
tips given by Datin TPr Hjh Mazrina to the
participants on how to practice low carbon
life style. After the sharing session ended,
Datin TPr Hjh Mazrina asked participants
10 questions related to her sharing
session. Souvenirs was prepared and
given to the participants who answered the
question correctly. It as an active session
with two-way interaction between the
speaker and the audience.

: How to Make Malaysia Cities Cyclable By Mr. Md Farabi

Mr. Farabi’s take on this sharing session is to share the
practices and policies on cycling infrastructure in the country
and compare them with other countries. Some of the
infrastructure needed close attention especially on the
technical works. Malaysian trend in cycling are growing and
infrastructure plays the main part in encouraging more
people to cycle. This sharing session will be continued with
the 2nd series, which focusses in detail of cycling
infrastructure and its implementation,

The MIP Northern Branch (MIPNB) member’s
get together activities was held on 20th April
2019 at Eastern & Oriental Hotel, Penang. The
event began at 11.30am with TPr Tan Ann Hui,
Chairman of MIP Northern Branch giving an
opening remarks and update on MIP’s Annual
General Meeting and recent activities. This was
followed by networking session and lunch. The
objectives of this event are to appreciate
contribution of members and senior planner in
promoting and uplifting our profession. Apart
from that, the event is also aimed to foster close
and professional ties amongst town planners in
the northern region.

The Standing Committee Get Together Activities
was held at Level 3, MIP National Office on 30th
April 2019. 45 members attended the event. This
event is to recognize MIP Members who
volunteered to become MIP Standing Committees.
The event began at 2.30pm with registration and
lunch. This was followed by MIP President’s
mandate at 3.00pm. The President emphasised on
the important of members to work together
collectively towards a common vision to achieve the
aspiration of the Institute. He reminded members of
the need always be mindful of the great
responsibility as a town planner. Any layout plan
that we do and policies that we frame will have
huge implication towards the society and
development of nation. We have it within our
knowledge and skills to create a better living
environment and to protect our nature from
destruction. He also emphasised the need to
always uphold our principles and core values in
dealings with our works and clients. This is to
ensure that integrity and professionalism as a town
planner is well protected. He ended his speech by
thanking all members that have volunteer to be MIP
Standing Committee.
The event proceeded with the presentation of
standing committee appointment letter with the
introduction of the profile, objectives, KPIs and
members of the committee. MIP President handed
the letter of appointment to the chairman of the
committee and followed by a group photo.

the Low Carbon Cities Framework (LCCF)
Training Curriculum currently being
developed by MIP for SEDA under the
Green Technology Application for the
Development of Low Carbon Cities
(GTALCC) project. The 3 days mock
training was held from 8th to 10th May 2019
at Dorsett Hotel, Putrajaya. The participants
consisted of officers from local authorities
that are now handling LCCF as part of their
daily tasks, who are also the potential LCCF
trainers or facilitators.

On Friday 4th January 2019, a simple soft launching of the 50th anniversary
celebrations of the Center of Studies in Town and Regional Planning
(CSTRP) was held in the Built Environment and Design Complex at
University Technology MARA (UiTM) Selangor, Puncak Alam Campus. The
Deputy Dean (Academic), Associate Professor Ts Dr Emma Marinie Ahmad
Zawawi who represented the Dean officiates the event. She read the dean’s
speech which among others, highlighted the importance of working together
and creating collaborations between the university (students and lecturers),
alumni and the community at large. Town and Regional Planning (TRP) is
one of the three pioneer programs in the Faculty of Architecture, Planning
and Surveying which started as the School of Applied Arts in 1967.
In the five decades of its existence, The TRP Center of studies (or previously
known as department) had offered program of studies in various levels –
Certificate, Diploma and Bachelor degree (previously called Advanced
Diploma) and the postgraduate level i.e. masters by taught and research and
PhD. The first intake of the Masters in Urban Space Design in September
2018 is another testimony of TRP UiTM achievements.
Following the opening speech, En Zulkifi Ahmad Zaki representative of the
TRP 50th anniversary logo competition winner, Mr Sayed Muhammad

director of Morphosis Design) marked the starting of the TRP Golden Jubilee
celebrations in 2019 with the main event highlights scheduled in August 2019.
The simple launching event kicks off cheerfully in the presence of TRP
students, alumni, lecturers and staff. The acting head of TRP Center of
Studies, TPr Dr Siti Mazwin Kamaruddin and organizing committee wished to
thank IZM Consult and Morphosis Design for sponsoring the event.
