Meteo-logbook (Turbo)

•Turbo with pc/laptop

-Creating Obs on PC or laptop

•Obs to floppy disc and IMMT logfile

-Obs can be printed for sending via other than Inm-C equipment.

Advantages of TurboWin

•Correct format prevents rejected obs’s.

•Built in quality checks and help.

•Less transmission costs due to omission useless additions.

•Advise to use nearest LES (TurboWin).

No paper logbooks needed.

No (expensive) processing of logbooks.

Instant IMMT logfiles.

Disadvantages of using OBS Software

• Computer needed.

• Maintainance of laptop and software.1. Installation software e.g. Microsoft Office,

games.

Advantages of Dedicated Logbook

• No hard disk but flash memory card.

• Limited memory and omission of CD-Rom drive prevents use for other purposes.

Leads to less computers/dedilogs investment (inattractive for alternative use).

Less maintainance and logistic services required.

What will be future developments?

• Bufr messages generated with TurboWin (expensive).

Turbowin Software

• SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS• MS Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP. • Extra requirement only for Windows 95 and NT

users: Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher• High Colour (16-bits) or better screen setting • Screen resolution 600 * 800 (minimum)• 35 Mb available hard disk space• Floppy disk drive (A: drive)

BEFORE INSTALL

If a former version of Turbo Win was used, please make sure:

• The stored log files are moved to disk (former Turbo Win: Maintenance | Move Log files to A:\)

• If applicable: The Turbo Win E-mail settings are noted (former Turbo Win: Maintenance | E-mail settings)
