INTRODUCTION

The act of making ‘holy water’ is not reserved to the priest. In fact all tsadikeen can make water

holy by pouring water into a clean vessel, and singing the Qadish, followed by the Lord’s Prayer

and Hail Mary, and then the Prayer of Blessing Water while making the sign of the cross upon the

vessel three times.

The service contained here is to be used when holy water is needed, outside of the context of the

liturgy or another liturgical service. If holy water is being made within the context of another

liturgical service then only the Prayer of Blessing Water shall be sung immediately after the

Qadish.

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY LORD

Everyone shall enter the sanctuary or other place designated for prayer. Women and clergymen will

cover their heads, and everyone shall face East. There after the officiant begins the service, singing:

and of the Son דברא

D'Bara of son

and of the Holy Spirit ודרוחא קדישאu'D'Ruha Qadeesha of spirit of holiness

HOLY ART THOU O GOD

When the Officiant sings “Holy art Thou O God”, all shall stand and raise their hands

heavenward, palms up. One the words “Holy art Thou Almighty!”, kneel facing East with left knee

on the floor, keeping thy right knee and hands raised. On the words “Holy art Thou”, place both

knees on the ground, and when Thee sing the word “Immortal”, bow thy head, again still keeping

thy hands raised. When Thee say “Crucified for us”, place thy hands, palm down on the floor.

When Thee say, have mercy upon us”, place your forehead against the floor in front of you.
