Cooper split bearing solutions have a long-standing reputation amongst maintenance professionals for the immense savings they can give in downtime and ease of fitting.
Launched by Cooper and available for many years as a “bespoke” solution, the ANGLED PEDESTAL is now available across the standard range of SN, SD and SAF equivalent pedestal housings.
With the SNQ angled pedestal, Cooper bearing units are now even easier to fit as the angled joint allows the pedestal to be slid under the shaft without the need to raise this with a hoist or jack.
ANGLED PEDESTALS
Our housings are designed using finite element analysis and are cast and machined in our factory making Cooper the only manufacturer of split bearings who can claim single-source responsibility for both bearing and housing. Housings are produced in nodular iron as standard. Other materials are available, e.g. stainless steel, aluminium and steel.

OUTER RING
Expansion EX and fixed GR standard executions as well as a variety of different lip configurations depending on operating condiditions.
A wide variety of cages is available depending on the application requirements including brass, steel and aluminium
CAGE
Due to the location in the swivelling cartridge, the Cooper sealing solution
is highly effective. A wide range of seals is available including aluminium triple labyrinth, rubber lip seals, felt
and high temperature options.

Optimised logarithmic-profiled rollers for reduced edge stress and longer life
ROLLING ELEMENTS
The spherical location between the cartridge and the pedestal housing ensures that whichever type of seal is used, it will always remain concentric to the shaft

The current offering is the broadest on the market, comprising 4 series of cylindrical roller bearing AND two types of split taper roller bearing. The standard manufacturing range is available for bore sizes from 30 mm to 1500 mm. (incl. inch equivalents).
A comprehensive array of customisation options to the standard design is also available. These include special internal clearances, lip configurations etc.

PROVEN COST SAVINGS
Using Cooper split bearings means immense savings in machinery maintenance/repair downtimes whether planned or through failure of the original bearing. The advantages are especially notable in inaccessible or trapped locations e.g between head pulley and gearbox or motor, where the need to dismount associated equipment is eliminated.
Split to the shaft bearings disassemble into smaller components easing the tasks of lifting and handling and making assembly or change-out simple even in the most cramped and inaccessible conditions.
Clearances are pre-set, so no on-site adjustment is needed and no specialist fitting tools are required
