Why we are using Flipped Classroom at Blue Valley High School

• We want the entire class time to be available for collaborative work on mathematics.

• When students practice at home as individuals, they do not catch mistakes and do not get help if there are questions.

• Class time can be individualized to help a broader range of students.

• Students would rather watch videos than “do homework.”

Page 28: Make Students in the Flipped Classroom Accountable with EDpuzzle Richard Gill Blue Valley High School.

Issues that we experienced before we started using EDpuzzle

• Students were not watching videos or were watching them in class.

• Students could simply copy notes and say they had watched the video.

• There was no way to hold students accountable.

Page 29: Make Students in the Flipped Classroom Accountable with EDpuzzle Richard Gill Blue Valley High School.

With EDpuzzle

• Due dates made students more accountable.• Quizzes made sure that students were actually

paying attention to videos.• Students were not falling behind and had a

common vocabulary when discussing questions in class.

• Reinforced that we wanted students to be responsible for learning.

General notes on Videos

• We supply guided notes which students complete using the videos.

• Maximum length to be effective: 15 minutes• Quizzes are basic. Are you paying attention?• Students will rewatch videos as needed as

part of review (or to help them go to sleep)
