MOMENT FOR STEWARDSHIP Daryl Bogan MOMENT FOR MISSION Allyson Black Reading & Proclaiming God’s Word RESPONSIVE PSALTER LESSON Allyson Black Psalm 96:1-13 O sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be revered above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts. Worship the LORD in holy splendor; tremble before him, all the earth. Say among the nations, "The LORD is king! The world is firmly established; it shall never be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity." Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it. Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD; for he is coming, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with his truth. Leader: Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. People: Thanks be to God! *GOSPEL LESSON Tom Huguley Leader: The Gospel of the Lord according to Matthew. People: Praise be to you, O Christ. Matthew 21:23-32: When he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?" Jesus said to them, "I will also ask you one question; if you tell me the answer, then I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin?" And they argued with one another, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?' But if we say, 'Of human origin,' we are afraid of the crowd; for all regard John as a prophet." So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And he said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things. "What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.' He answered, 'I will not'; but later he changed his mind and went. The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, 'I go, sir'; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him; and even after you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him. Leader: For the Word of God in scripture, for the Word of God among us, for the Word of God within us. People: Thanks be to God. *THE FELLOWSHIP HYMN (SEE INSERT) Lord, Be Glorified Bob Kilpatrick Bob Kilpatrick was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and his gospel standard “In My Life Lord Be Glorified”, which is now published in many hymnals as “Lord Be Glorified”, was the driving force behind Fair Oaks Records in Sacramento because of its popularity among the young churchgoer in the denominational/non-traditional church. The song is a prayer asking God to be glorified in all aspects of our lives because He is the King of Glory, the Lord of hosts, Psalm 24:10. This song was assigned to the Lorenz Corporation in 1998.
