ALBERTANS MORE POSITIVE ON FEDERAL INVOLVEMENT, LESS POSITIVE ON ECONOMY

March 31, 2016 (Ottawa, ON) – A new Mainstreet/Postmedia poll finds more Albertans are positive ahe Federal government’s plans to tackle the economic situation - but less Albertans are positive abou

outlook for the provincial economy and their own personal finances. The Mainstreet/Postmedia Poll hmargin of error of +/- 1.96%, 19 times out of 20.

58% of Albertans are pessimistic about Alberta’s economy," said Quito Maggi, President of MainstResearch. “While that is a drop from our previous poll (-6%) conducted in October, Optimism has droas well (-1%). It’s not that Albertans are more positive it’s that an increasing number are undecided a

what they think (Not sure, +6%).”

Albertans are also more pessimistic about their own family situation. 49% are optimistic (-4%), 35%

pessimistic (+4%) while 16% are not sure (no change)."

Reaction to the federal budget seems to be a net positive with scores among Albertans less negativebefore. There appears to a good reaction to the EI changes though less so in Edmonton where it d

appear it has registered that they have been left out of new EI funding.”

Many Albertans are saying the low Canadian dollar won’t impact their travel plans. 35% of those whbelieve they will be impacted are saying their new plans involve either travelling only within Alber

Canada. Another 18% now won’t travel at all. Of course, there are other factors than just the Canadian dhat may impact travel plans moving forward,” finished Maggi.

“I recommend "Raiders of the Lost Campaign Arc," released Oct. 18, because it’s an interviewith a pollster that everyone who follows politics should hear. Quito Maggi, of Mainstreet Pub

Research, was the only pollster I saw call the Liberal majority with such confidence, a weekbefore we voted.

Maggi also has the distinction of being the guy who predicted the BC Liberals would win in 2in defiance of the majority of the polls.

His technique involves picking a true bellwether riding and polling it thoroughly. His explanatfor how he does it is well worth a listen and should be required research for anyone running

political campaign.” - Shannon Rupp, The Tyee, November 4th, 2015
