IITA Webinar Understanding the LATAM Market

Mexico,Your distant neighbor

• Through the years, I have found that in many USA regions and companies, there is a vast amount of misconceptions and stereotypes concerning the Mexican travel and tourism market.

How many Mexicans travel to the USA?How much money do they spend? What do they like?

Distant neighbors

Page 22: Main iita 072816 webinar 2 ppt

• Last year, the United States received 77.5 million international visitors. That puts the USA in second place worldwide when it comes to international visitations.

• Out of those 77.5 million, 18.4 million were Mexican travellers. That means that almost 1 in 4 international travellers to the USA are from Mexico.

Mexicans love traveling to the USA

Page 23: Main iita 072816 webinar 2 ppt

It is estimated that Mexico tourism to the USA will grow at a rate of 4% to 5% yearly for the next five years, above the average of other countries. That means that by the year 2021 Mexico could equal Canada in amount of visitors sent to the USA.

And it will keep growing…

Page 24: Main iita 072816 webinar 2 ppt

When it comes to spending money, Mexican visitors to the USA spend on average more than any other Country with the exception of Canada and China, with an average of $1,032 USD per person

And money is not a problem…

Page 25: Main iita 072816 webinar 2 ppt

Mexicans love shopping, sports events, skiing, sightseeing, eating in good restaurants, going to shows in Broadway and Las Vegas, staying at great five star resorts, music, arts and food festivals all over the Country and of course, going to theme parks like Disney World or Universal Resort.

What do Mexicans do in the USA?
