Tigo El Salvador: 2015 up to DateMillicom Group

Back in El Salvador after five years working abroad I´ve got the opportunity to lead a Convergent Customer Program in Tigo, covering a set of initiatives oriented to standardizing and digitally transforming customer facing processes across all markets and segments, suppressing papers and automating tasks in order to allow seamless interactions along Customer Journey for Enhancing Experience and Satisfaction.

Cable & Wireless Panama: 2013-2015Cable & Wireless Communications

Reporting to CEO as Company´s Chief Information Officer, major challenge was changing IT personnel mindset and culture creating a customer centric organization, flexible and responsive, as well implementing several systems for improving business capabilities through a Digital Transformation approach, either enhancing customer experience or increasing internal efficiency.

Implementing Cloud Based applications: People Soft (HR), SalesForce.Com, Service Max.

Defining a Single Front End & Unified Customer Strategy, including data cleansing.

Mobile money service implementation, creating an eco system including toll ways, public transport (buses & metro), supermarkets, drugstores and convenience stores.

Adapting all legacy systems for supporting LTE technology. Prepaid TV system launch, using mobile scratch cards and electronic

means for topping up. Electronic Top Ups & Dealer Management system (a cost effective

solution). Field Service Management system, including scheduling, routes

optimization & automated service provisioning. Implementing Mule ESB & creating a whole set reusable services (SOA). Oracle Communications Data Model (OCDM-DWH) first implementation in

LATAM.

Moving to Tanzania as Tigo´s Chief Information Officer helped me to improve multi cultural skills and brought me into a new way of working.

A challenging experience requiring the creation of the IT organization from scratch and realizing several initiatives for ensuring operations stability and Customer Satisfaction.

Creating the IT Organization and managing the evolution to Service Delivery schema.

Establishing and managing Performance Indicators (NRT) for IT applications & outsourced services.

Implementing IT Security Function in Tigo Tanzania and setting the basis for MIC Africa.

Member of Millicom´s Global Team for Convergent Billing requirements.

DWH & Oracle Fusion (ESB) implementation. Leading the technical swap out of Tigo Pesa (MFS) platform, a service

utilized by 40% of mobile subscribers. IT Data Center: new infrastructure and equipment relocation with

minor service disruption. New Office Building: Network Cabling, UPS, Projection Systems, Video

Conferencing, Collaboration in Office Space Design.

As a result of America Movil taking over France Telecom´s operation in El Salvador, I continued working with the same legal entity but in this new holding, performing several functions including managing Call Center (500 FTE´s) and IP Engineering, both for El Salvador and becoming Chief Information Officer for Central America Region.

Centralizing IT operations for Central America, including data centers revamp (design & relocations).

Responsible for information systems security across the region. Integrating internal service data network for Central America. Mobile Post Paid billing integration for Central America (LHS BSCS). Implementing and operating prepaid platforms in all countries (12M

services) IT Due Diligence for Megatel (Hn) & Enitel (Ni). Green Field for Costa

Rica. Prepaid TV (cable & DTH) using mobile phone scratch cards and

electronic means for topping up. IT SAP technical responsible for consolidating Central America

financial operations. MPLS network designing for El Salvador. Ensuring seamless systems operation with excellent response times

across the whole region.

Some major achievements during this period in America Movil were:

Starting as IT Manager reporting to CTO when the incumbent operator ANTEL was privatized and acquired by France Telecom, thanks to outstanding results became IT Director (CIO) reporting to CEO and kept that position until the Company was sold to America Movil in 2003.

Replacing all internal systems, redesigning and implementing new processes within 1 year due to Y2K bug (rating, billing & invoicing, sales, customer care, provisioning, outside plant management, data cleansing, ERP, etc.)

Implementing and operating rating and billing systems for prepaid and postpaid markets (wireless & wireline).

Creating a new data centre and relocating the old one. Implementing a Geographical Information Systems (GIS), including

creation of a structured address reference data base and outside plant inventory for managing technical feasibility and installation scheduling.

HP Open View: Supervision for core switches, data network & Internet services. Availability and SLA´s monitoring.

OBJECTEL (Metasolv): Transport network resources inventory (physical & logical).

Some major achievements during this period working for France Telecom were:

Starting in technical & field support for branches and data center for the largest bank in Central America at that time, I reached a managerial position and were in charge of important technology and re-engineering projects including data center relocation, communication network design and deployment, etc., setting the technical basis for becoming an international player.

Data Centre relocation, the most critical part of an office centralization project, ensuring minimal service disruption.

Implementing the first Credit Cards switch in El Salvador. Wide Area Network design and implementation. X.25 Radio Network for Automatic Teller Machines, metropolitan area. Data Center Design (currently Central America data centre for Citi

Bank). Y2K Program Manager. Elaborating required Technology Report for Initial Public Offering

(IPO). Bank responsible for managing suppliers for data services (largest

telco customer in El Salvador). Technical responsible for ERP implementation.
