Magic Numbers Magic numbers help students to see the same number broken
apart in different ways using tens and ones. It will significantly help them with it comes to subtraction with regrouping. You could do a different magic number a day and have students use it as an exit ticket where they have to tell you a new way to make it. Example: 74 =7 tens & 4 ones 74=6 tens & 14 ones
The next 4 pages can be used a station or small group. Cut, laminate and bag the magic number cards. Students will pull a number and have to write it different ways using tens and ones The mini-magic numbers you can use to help introduce, for small group, station work, homework or simply for practice.
