Robert Pattinson is Hot, Not Romantic

There's a lot to like about Robert Pattinson - acting ability, dynamite hair, a humble attitude - but the actor admits he isn't the most romantic person alive.

"I really haven't done that many romantic things in my life... I mean, I've watched Titanic," he said yesterday at a press conference promoting New Moon. "I put a flower on someone's locker when I was 15."

Britney "Upset" By Australian FansBritney Spears' first tour in Australia continues to feel the heat and it's upsetting the pop princess!

After being criticized by the Australian media for lip-syncing (duh!) and reports of fans walking out of Brit Brit's show, her tour promoter quickly came to her defense

 Analysis

Score 17 to 30Your attitude towards your emotions is a healthy one. You aren't ashamed to let your emotions show occasionally, and you will undoubtedly be much healthier because of this attitude. You are likely to be a good social advisor.

Score 8 to 16You know how to let your emotions show but you still find it difficult to do so as often as you should. You should be prepared to let your emotions out more often. When you feel sad let yourself cry, when you feel angry, let your anger show, when you feel happy allow a smile to cross your face. Allowing your emotions out in this way will do wonders to your physical and mental health.

Score 7 or lessYou are definitely very uptight. You really do need to allow your emotions flow out a little. There isn't any thing really wrong in allowing people to know how you feel.

This semester, the students who decided to enter the area of biochemists, have learned many things will serve us in the future not very distant. To all of us is brilliant to pass most of the time in the Laboratory, and I believe that we could forget all the other subjects and the only one we would take serious would be Anatomy.

For us the biochemists is very funny, when we have practice, our friends or other companions are interested in what we do, it’s very interesting to hear them say “I should have chosen Chemistry”, “you seem to have a great time”,” what you do in the laboratory it’s very interesting”; sometimes, we are astonished that they want “to strain” to our pleasant and very united hall classes, even Brother Alexander is interesting in our following practices, and some of them are: injections, bandages, dissection of a rat,

Page 23: Magazine

bypass, realize surgeon knots (sutures), and finally listen the heart and read electrocardiograms.

Whenever we finished one practice, we already want to do the other. I believe that all the preparatory has seen us with our surgical suit, and for us it is very special to use it, we felt unique and very moved when wear it I believe that if someone would ask us the 100% of the classroom would vote so that we remained dresses like that all day.

In conclusion, for us the most important class is Anatomy, is the one that all we hoped with anxiety and that we never want to lose mainly when we have practices, and we think is the class more important, interesting and we learn so much things and I believe we have a good mental unfolding.

Things that the biochemists we only know

That exercises realize if we want to develop some muscle.

That the sound of the heart is not “pum pum” if not “lub dub”.

That they mean letters “P, Q, R, S, T” in an electrocardiogram.

Like realising a Bypass. To apply Injections To read an Electrocardiogram.

Tips For Copying In ExamThe best way to cheat on an exam is:

1) The night before grab one little paper and write down all the important stuff you need to know, make sure to use back side

2) When your exam is at 8:30 don’t get there 5 minutes later, get there 5 min before so you can get one of the back seats, ( back corner)

3) Now believe it or not, take out the paper and place them on the desk out in the moment when the teacher gets up just, place the paper under your exam sheet, then when your done just put the cards in your pocket, play it cool bro. Also go down and level your eye with the table and see if the angle of the paper can be seen by the teacherAlso lets say the teacher is at the front left side and your right handed you can cover the paper or cards

MOSES SELEBATSO: A PASSIONATE ECOLOGIST WITH A BELIEF IN COINCIDENCES  BY IRIS ITZEL LOPEZ SANCHEZ

Courtesy of Moses Selebatso / Horizon: © Vincent Grafthorst/ Foto Natura /Minden Pictures

Moses Selebatso, CI’s Biodiversity Manager for the Western Kgalagadi Conservation Corridor (WKCC) Project in Botswana, believes in coincidences and passion. Two of his most important life events started at the University of Botswana, where he first realized his passion for ecology and he met his future wife, Eda.

During his studies at the University of Botswana, Selebatso’s enthusiasm for ecology began—a dedication that continues to this day. “The subject made me think, ‘this is very exciting and I want to specialize in understanding nature.’ It was at that stage that I made up my mind that I would become an ecologist.”

From Tropical Ecology to the Desert

With his Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology, Selebatso began working for the government of Botswana as a wildlife biologist. His work led him to the Kalahari, a vast desert that encompasses more than 900,000 square kilometers (350,000 square miles) and covers most of Botswana. It’s known for its hot days and cold nights.

 EXPEDITION: Botswana's Gudigwa Camp

“The environment looks strange (in the Kalahari Desert), but is fascinating to me. Different vegetation types, wildlife species, and breathtaking landscapes with sand dunes and salt pans. (And I loved) the people. It was like a new home to me, and I wanted to spend the rest of my life in such an environment.” Unfortunately, a limited research budget made it difficult to accomplish important work in the area. Coincidently, CI’s WKCC Project came about just in time. It had “objectives that were so challenging and exciting. They were very close to what I have always wanted for the Kalahari ecosystem.” So with that, Selebatso joined CI in June 2007.

Established Expertise in Botswana

Selebatso received a scholarship from Norwegian government to complete his Master’s degree, enriching his knowledge of ecology. Today, he is responsible for coordinating biodiversity-related activities of the WKCC project, which aims to establish a migratory corridor for wildlife between the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and the Kalahari Transfrontier Park. “The protected areas used to form part of one ecosystem, but human activities have disrupted connectivity between them. In this project, I work with different partners with different expertise, from biologists and land use officers to private researchers, community leaders and traditional trackers.

Page 28: Magazine

“I have conducted aerial surveys, studies on human-wildlife conflict, development of a GIS database, and ground surveys.”

FEATURE: Science in Action: Putting Out Fires

Selebatso measures his success from the encouragement of others. His former colleagues at the government convey that they are impressed with Selebatso’s commitment and impact in his conservation efforts. Selebatso views their trust and confidence in him as an “ecologist, and most importantly as a member of conservation community.”

Changing Minds, Creating Opportunities

He also finds satisfaction when he gains skeptics’ trust and praise. One memorable situation occurred when Selebatso was conducting a workshop on human-wildlife conflict, an issue on which farmers and government officials often take opposite sides. Some participants appeared to have doubts that a young man like Selebatso could facilitate a workshop on such a controversial subject. By the end of the workshop, however, a local farmer and the local chief—both of whom had been suspicious and doubtful of any success—congratulated Selebatso on a job well-done. They were encouraged that solutions to conflicts could be realized because of his kind approach and calculative efforts.

Just as Selebatso is admired for his efforts, he gladly returns the sentiment to his partners in his everyday work—his local “trackers.” Currently, Selebatso is working on a resource inventory and monitoring of natural resources, and he credits the local trackers who assist him with an “amazing knowledge of wildlife and their area.” Through this, the indigenous San people are using their traditional skills to support modern conservation work—and gaining a voice in their future. Selebatso also presents new employment opportunities by including local people in his conservation efforts. He is optimistic that the skills the local people have now can be transferred to potential tourism businesses as well as offered to future generations in place of hunting and gathering.

IN DEPTH: CI works with local communities around the world. Learn more about these unique partnerships.

“This collaboration with local people and their participation in resource inventory is unique and exciting,” says Selebatso. “This, to me, forms a good base of community-based natural resource management and most importantly, empowerment, which will enhance their sense of ownership and capacity to advocate for their rights.” Even with his local successes, he recognizes that, “this process of engaging and empowering local people needs more focus and time to ensure sustenance.”

Passion and Coincidence

Looking back, Selebatso sees many connections between his professional and personal paths. Just as his time at University of Botswana enlightened Selebatso to what he calls his “natural attachment to nature,” he credits his marriage to a string of coincidences over 11 years. With chance employments together in the same government department, then the same station, he and his wife-to-be became “good friends” and at last married. And in July of 2008, they welcomed a baby boy to the family—Moses Setso. Ultimately, whether Selebatso is in the field or at home, he carries with him a passion for ecology and conservation efforts that runs deep in his heart and in his home.

Bar Reflection’s Genaro R.

Have you ever thought how towns are born? Last Friday I went with my friends to the movies and ending the movie we saw ourselves in the problem of every Friday, the classic case of no curfewl, but also no idea of what are we going to do, as always we let the wind… and the gas decide were we were going, also since nobody wanted to go to dinner we ended up deciding to go to a bar, as usual my friends sat and asked for a couple of beers, and since I don’t drink, while I saw them, I started reflexing… and I reached a conclusión, for a town to appear there is only one thing that needs to be done, and that’s putting a bar in the middle of nowhere.

It's like magic, lift a bar and the next morning you’ll see a couple houses in the surroundings... at least in Mexico! The proof is that in Mexico you can find towns without school, whitout hospitals without stores , even without a city hall... but without bar?... No Way!

Do you know why people love bars? You can do everything you can’t do at home, for example, in a bar you can get wasted and throw all the chairs, tables, and even the TV out of the window without worrying, but attempt to do that at home… and you let me know how did that go. Yet… Not everything is so beautiful, any time have you tried to use a bar’s restrooms? O_O Nooooo.... that’s another history, not only you don't want to touch anything, but you end up repenting after seeing how dirty is the cup and running as fast as you can out of there, here you can literally applie the phrase "you don't know what drunk man touched that".But well... never mind, at the end going to a bar is almost the same as going to the church, there is a gentleman behind a “bar” holding a bottle of wine, there's music, people... and on Sundays, football Sundays , both sites are crowded , the only drawback here is the fact that charity is optional... but the account… not so much.

You know, in a bar, the most important thing is the waiter (if they have a waiter). Waiters basically can be divided in two types: the agile, that as soon as you enter says:They are 2-0,(more likely 7-0), America is seriously kicking some asses, let me get you a spot on the bar, are ready to get wasted? This beer is on the House And the Dick, which is the classic asshole than seems to be comming out of a coma, because he doesn´t seem to see you not hear you even thought your arms seem to be moving just like the ones of a cop trying to aid a “microbusero” on his parking quest, but as if that wasn’t just enough, if you attempt to leave leaving less than 50 pesos of Tip, he’ll follow you to the car and sarcastically will tell you that you forget your change.

Page 34: Magazine

Finally the bar is the Temple of the FOOTBALL. The sign you’ll always see is: “Tonight Game, AMERICA is going to play” (lets face it, that always sells) And the whole day you can’t speak about anything else, that’s the big diference between a bar and your House, here don’t discuss over the remote or the channel, if there is a game, you’ll see the game, if there is artistic skating, you’ll see the game, if the weekly report is on you’ll probably see the “GAME” and if there is porn… you should probably ask the bartender to tape you the GAME jaja ;)

The New Beverly Hills Diet

What Is the New Beverly Hills Diet?

The New Beverly Hills Diet centers on "conscious combining" -- eating the right foods at the right time. The original Beverly Hills Diet began with a highly restrictive 42-day initiation phase. The new one forgoes many of the earlier extremes, and now, according to its author, meets recommended standards for a balanced weekly diet.

Note the phrase "balanced weekly diet." As far as Judy Mazel is concerned, our dietary troubles began when we adopted a 3-square-meals-a-day plan, and they'd soon be over if we stopped combining carbohydrates with proteins, proteins with carbohydrates, and fruit with anything.

"It isn't what you eat or how much you eat that makes you fat," maintains Mazel, a dietary and lifestyle counselor, "it is when you eat and what you eat together!"

For those who thrive on lots of positive reinforcement, are very fond of fruit, and who cope best when armed with affirmations, then this diet book may suit you.

Blood type diet

The blood type diet is a diet advocated by Peter D'Adamo, a naturopathic physician, and outlined in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. D'Adamo's claim is that ABO blood type is the most important factor in determining a healthy diet, and he promotes distinct diets for people with O, A, B, and AB blood types.

Throughout his books D'Adamo cites the works of biochemists and glycobiologists who have researched blood groups, claiming or implying that their research supports this theory. Nevertheless, the consensus among dieticians, physicians, and scientists is that the theory is unsupported by scientific evidence. D'Adamo responds to some of the criticisms on his website.
