Den Helder is traditionally one of the most prominent maritime cities of the Netherlands. Port of Den Helder is the logistics knowledge and service hub for the southern North Sea. The Port has a variety of maritime companies, as well as research and development, training and educational institutions, and is home to the fleet of the Royal Dutch Navy.

The port provides employment for many people in the region. Den Helder Airport is one of the largest heliports in Northwestern Europe and forms a perfect combination together with the Port of Den Helder for all offshore activities in the (southern) North Sea. ABUCO is a fabrication and repair company specialized in the welding and processing of high strength steel (Ste690, S960 etc.) The work undertaken by the company primarily involves carrying out repair, fabrication and modification work on lifting and hoisting equipment and fabrication and repair work for crane and equipment builders employed in the oil and gas industry. ABUCO also manufactures large volumes of pipework, special parts

Den Helder Airport is one of the largest offshore heliports of North-West Europe. Thanks to its ideal location close to the primary oil and gas fields in the central and southern parts of the North Sea.In recent years, the number of landings has increased to a total of 22.850 and an average of 140.000 passengers per year pass through the check-in of Den Helder Airport.Over the next few years, Den Helder Airport aims to attract new markets.

Den Helder Airport has been in development for more and more to form a connecting link between the different offshore cities. The airport is working on a service between Den Helder and Aberdeen and there are also contacts to realize the Danish Esbjerg connection.
