Maclean Public School Newsletter Education Week Happy Education Week. We have put together a virtual classroom tour video to celebrate education week. You can view this on our Facebook page and also access it from our school website. Our newsletter this week features many photos of what’s going on in our classrooms and around the school. On Friday all classes will be participating in a range of activities to celebrate Education Week. We have also been viewing several live streams provided by the Department of Education, including an excellent Aboriginal Languages presentation. Parent Interviews If you would like a telephone interview, please ensure your child returns the note with selected times to their class teacher. Sporting Schools Next week we welcome back instructors from ‘Sporting Schools’. This excellent program provides expert coaches to deliver skill-based lessons. This term all classes from year 3-6 will receive soccer lessons. The Everyday Maths Hub To further support parent and carers, the DoE is launching ‘The Everyday Maths Hub’. The website has been designed to be an engaging and dynamic online platform for parents and carers of children in Kindy through to Year 10. It aims to support and encourage family conversations about the relevance and usefulness of mathematics in everyday life. This is part of the NSW Mathematics Strategy to achieve the Premier’s vision, 'for all NSW students to develop the mathematical skills they need to succeed in life' and was designed in consultation with our teachers, parents and carers. It will support parents and carers in empowering their children to think critically and creatively, find and solve problems, and notice and wonder about the mathematics in the world around them and help parents and carers connect with their children through mathematics. It features mathematical bite-size content, including: • short creative videos to introduce topics • interactive everyday activities • inspiring reading and resource lists • games and puzzles. Latest Guidelines – COVID-19 COVID-19 school related restrictions that were in place at the end of last term still remain valid and are still in place. This includes parents/carers not being permitted on-site at school. I will let you know when these restrictions are lifted. Please maintain social distancing when dropping off and picking up students. Enhanced hygiene practices and additional cleaning will continue. We are looking forward to the time when school is open to all members of the community. Until then, if you would like to talk to staff, please call the office and they will organise a suitable time for a phone interview. I will continue to keep families informed of any changes. Water Bottles Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle to school each day. They are able to refill these at school. Awards Our school leaders will present awards each Friday at morning lines. We will present Bronze, Silver and Gold awards in weeks 2 and 6. Kevin Hogan Book Prize Sarah was extremely excited to win the Kevin Hogan book prize for borrowing the most books from the school library.
