Monthly summary on the principal activities of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for the month of September, 2018

I. Swachh Bharat Mission

i. 3,595 cities/towns have been declared as Open Defecation Free including 255 cities/ towns during this month.

ii. 80 lakh citizens are registered on the Apps (58.11 lakh on Swachhata app and 21.89 on local apps). 1.40 crore complaints have been registered out of which 1. 31 crore complaints have been resolved by end of this month.

iii. The Public Toilet locating facility on Google Maps has been implemented in 570 cities with 30,000 toilets mapped so far. On 28 September, 2018, the Ministry, in collaboration with Google also launched the Loo Review Campaign to encourage all local guides in India to rate and review public toilets on Google Maps.

iv. Rs. 239.82 crore has been released to the States during the month.

v. As a precursor to the launch of the year-long 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, and in the run up to the 4th anniversary celebrations of Swachh Bharat Mission, the "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign was launched countrywide by the Hon'ble Prime Minister on September 15, 2018 which was observed till October 2, 2018. MoHUA and its entities including CPWD, DMRC, ODA, NBCC India Limited, HUDCO, and Hindustan Prefab Limited have undertaken major activities. Some of the activities are given as below:

a. First plogging drive by officers of all MoHUA entities on September, 22, 2018 was kicked off at Janpath by Secretary, MoHUA. The plogging drive resulted in the collection of over 500 used and broken bottles, plastic wrappers, paper cups and other forms of trash.

b. Second plogging drive by officers of all MoHUA entities on September 30, 2018 was undertaken from Nehru Park to Yashwant Place.

c. Transformation of 20 large sized Garbage Vulnerable Points {GVP) spots each shortlisted by Municipal Corporations of Delhi, NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board was undertaken during the period.

d. Activities were undertaken by Central Public Works Department (CPWD):

1.Initiated source segregation with inauguration of compost machines at Nirman Bhawan. This will be replicated in all other Bhawans; 2. CPWD/ NBCC Organized sensitization workshop with workers on management of dust/ air pollution control; 3.Verification of toilets was made whether toilets are accessible for Divyang persons and senior citizens along with placement of prominent signages.

vi. Government of India requested all the States/UTs and ULBs to organize large scale citizen engagement activities for awareness generation and community mobilization during the fortnight in the form of Sharamdaan, Clean & Green Drives, Swachhata Pledges, Swachhata Rallies etc spread over their respective regions with a special focus of slum areas. Nearly 1.35 crore persons from urban areas particlpated in 'Swachhata Hi Seva' activities during this period.

vii. An exclusive portal 'Swachh Manch' (www.swachhmanch.in) has been developed by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for encouraging voluntary citizen's participation in Swachh Bharat Mission across the Urban India. 800 ULBs have already been on­ boarded on the Swachh Manch portal and during the recently concluded 'swachhata hi seva' fortnight, ULBs have uploaded more than 25000 events.

II. Smart Cities Mission

i. 97 Smart Cities, including Itanagar, have incorporated their Special Purpose Vehicles.

ii. During the month, work was completed in 43 projects worth Rs. 981 crore, work was started for 229 projects worth Rs. 5,788 crore, tenders were issued for additional 47 projects worth Rs. 4,811 crore. With this, 575 projects worth Rs. 30,399 crore have been tendered, 1021 projects worth Rs. 37,468

crore are under implementation and 470 projects worth Rs. 8,854 crore have been completed.

111. The second and third of the five Implementation workshops was organized at NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi for 8 States and at Shillong for 8 States respectively to facilitate maximum grounding of projects by 31 December 2018 across the Mission.

iv. Smart Cities Digital Payments Awards (SCDPA) 2018: "100 Days Challenge in 100 Cities" was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to guide, motivate, recognize and reward Smart Cities for promoting digital payments and carrying out innovative payment initiatives in

their cities.

III HRIDAY

i. Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs & Culture on cooperation in the field of mapping, awareness creation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage in 12 cities under HRIDAY Scheme.

ii. Rs. 18.06 crore was released to various HRIDAY Cities for different projects.

IV. Atal Mission for Rejuvenation Transformation (AMRUT)

and Urban

i. State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) to the tune of Rs. 77,640 crore have been finalized for all the States. Detailed project reports for projects costing Rs. 75,418 crore (97°/o of approved SAAP) have been approved. 876 projects worth Rs. 1,785 crore have been completed and in case of 3,622 projects worth Rs. 50,711 crore, work is in progress. 1,243 projects worth Rs. 24,707 crore are under tendering

process.

ii. Rs.15,435 crore was released to States/UTs towards project implementation, Administrative & Office Expenses, Reform Incentive and for for:mulation of GIS based Master Plans.

V Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana / National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY /NULM)

i. 35,178 Self Help Groups (SH Gs) were formed, 20,891 SHGs were given Revolving Fund, 1,47 ,298 candidates were skill trained, 71,082 trained candidates were given placement, 27,865 beneficiaries were assisted with loans for setting up of individual and micro enterprises, and 27,111 loans were given to SHGs under SHG-Bank linkage programme.

ii. Rs. 6. 97 crore was released during the month.

111. A MOU has been signed between Ministry of HUA and National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) for providing skill training to 2.5 lakh urban poor over 3 years in construction sector.

VI. Pradan. Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)/ Housing for All (HFA)

i. Rs. 969.72 crore have been released during the month.

ii. 60.34 lakh dwelling units in 12,810 projects with an investment of Rs. 3,26,520 crore involving Central assistance of Rs. 91,954 crore have been approved under PMAY. So far, 31,39,141 houses have been grounded for construction and construction for 9,35,549 houses have already been completed and 9,07,107 houses have been occupied.

iii. Release of Central grant for the States of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh was approved.

VII. Urban Transport Public Investment Board (PIB) has recommended Bhopal

Metro Rail Project Proposal and Indore Metro Rail Project Proposal for submitting to the Union Cabinet for approval.

VIII Housing Division First regional Workshop (Western Region) on Real Estate

Regulation and Development ACT (8-ERA) was held on 10.09.2018 in Pune, Maharashtra.
