    1. Select Start Settings ControlPanel.

    2. Open the

    Phone and Modem Options.

    3. Select Modems tab and

    continue with Add….

    4. Choose Don’t detect mymodem.  I will select it from alist.

    Click Next.

    5. In Manufacturers mark

    Standard Modem Type.In Models, selectCommunications cablebetween two computers.

    Click Next.

    6. Select the port.

    Click Next,and in the next window clickFinish.

    Highlight the port associated withthe direct connection of theRS232 or USB port.

    Click Properties.

    8. In the General  tab, change theMaximum Port Speed to:

    9. Click the Advanced  tab.

    Click the Change Default

    Preferences... tab.

    10. In the Change DefaultPreferences tab choose theGeneral tab.

    Setthe Flow control to None  andthe Port Speed to:

    11. Click the Advanced  tab.

    Set Data bits to 8.Set Parity to None.

    Set Stop bits to 1.

    12. Click OK several times to exit all the windows.

    The modem configuration is now complete.

    Select Connect directly toanother computer .

    Choose Guest.

    Click Next.

    5. The next window is Select a

    Device.

    This window will provide a drop-down list of knowncommunication ports (devices) tochoose from.Select the device that has beeninstalled in chapter 3.1.1  Settingup the Communication CableDriver - WINDOWS 2000.

    Click Next.

    6. The next window is Connection Availabi lity.

    Choose For all users.

    Click Next.

    7. The next window is Completethe Network ConnectionWizard.

    Enter a name for the connection.

    Click Finish.

    8. The next window is the Connect 

    window.

    Click Properties.

    9. Ensure in General tab the correctdevice is selected, i.e. the devicethat has been installed in chapter3.1.1  Setting up theCommunication Cable Driver -WINDOWS 2000.

    Tag the Show icon … box to getthe IP address display at the endof the connection procedure.

    Click Configure.

    10. Click Typical  and chooseRequire secured password.

    Click the Networking tab.

    11. In the Networking tab  click theSettings  button.

    There are 3 PPP settings.Make sure they are all OFF  andlick OK.

    12. Highlight the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) component.

    Click the Properties tab.

    13. In the General  tab of theProperties 

    Click Obtain an IP addressautomatically. Click Obtain DNS serveraddress automatically.

    Click Advanced .

    14. In the General  tab of Advanced ,uncheck all boxes.

    Click DNS tab.

    15. In the DNS  tab, make sure Append primary... and Append parent... andRegister this connection...  are

    checked.

    Click the WINS tab.

    16. In the WINS tab, make sureEnable LMHOSTS lookup  ischecked.

    Click the Options tab.

    1. Click

    Start Settings Network and Dial-upConnections Connection name.The properties of this connection shouldhave already been set up.

    Enter the user identification.User namePassword

    Check Save Password.

    2. Click Connect and the following connection windows will appear.

    3. When the connection is successful an iconindicating network activity between the localand remote computer will appear in thesystem tray.

    Click the icon and select theDetails tab, to get the ServerIP address for softwareaccess.

    The displayed Server IP-address  has to be entered as part of the URL foraccess to the repeater software.

    depending on the modem typeused for dial out.

    Click Next.

    3. Select Dial-up to privatenetwork in the NetworkConnection Type.

    Click Next.

    4. Select the modem to be used forthis connection.

    If only one modem is installed,

    this step is skipped and themodem is automatically assigned.

    Continue with Next.

    5. In Phone number to Dial  nophone number has to be entered.

    Click Next.

    6. The next window is Connection Availabi lity.

    Choose For all users 

    and click Next.

    7. In the next window, enter thename for the connection.

    Note: For connections from

    PC / Laptop to therepeater, theconnection name canbe set free.

    Note: For outgoing

    connections at aMMR system enter adistinct name for theconnection.

     Al lowed entries are‘MODEM1’, MODEM2’,etc. up to ‘MODEM10’ (capital letters, noblanks).No other names willbe accepted.

    Click Finish.

    8. Click

    Start Settings Network and

    Dial-up ConnectionsConnection name.

    Click Properties.

    9. Under the General  tab ofProperties  ensure the correctdevice is selected.

    Tag the Show icon … box to getthe IP address display at the endof the connection procedure.

    Click Configure.

    10. Choose the  Maximum speedaccording to the type of repeater.

    No other box should be checked.

    Click OK.

    11. Select the Options tab and makesure that all dialling options

    except Include Windows logondomain are checked.

    Set the redialling options asrequired and

    12. Select the Security  tab, clickTypical  and choose Requiresecured password.

    Click OK.

    13. Select the Networking tab and

    click the Settings button.

    There are 3 PPP settings. Makesure they are all OFF.

    Click OK  on the PPP Settings window.

    14. In the Networking  window,highlight the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) component and

    click the Properties tab.

    Check Obtain an IP addressautomatically. Check Obtain DNS serveraddress automatically.

    Click Advanced .

    17. In the DNS  tab, make sure Append primary... and Append parent... and

    Register this connection...  arechecked.

    Click the WINS tab.

    18. In the WINS tab, make sureEnable LMHOSTS lookup  ischecked.

    Click OK.

    19. Confirm to get back to the mainwindow.For Internet ConnectionFirewall  and InternetConnection Sharing  settings,select the Sharing tab.

    Make sure that Shared access is

    OFF.

    Click OK  to get back to theConnect window.

    20. The connection procedure is described in the following. If the connection is tobe made directly from the Connect  window, step one of the followingdescription can be skipped.

    7. Select the network componentsto be enabled for the incomingconnections. At least InternetProtocol (TCP/IP)  has to be

    selected, other networkcomponents are not necessary.

    Select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)  and click Properties  tocustomize the IP pool forincoming connections.

    8. In TCP/IP Properties  select

     Assign TCP/IP addressesautomatically using DHCP.

    Click OK  and in NetworkingComponents Next.

    5.2.1. General Remarks

    Note: In every software version there always is the possibil ty to choose

    dynamic (DHCP) or static IP address assignment.

    The factory set IP address 1.2.1.1 is set for the technician suppor t ofthe RMC without keyboard and without monitor (access via cross-connect LAN cable).

    It is possible to change the factory set IP address for customerneeds. This is in the responsibility of the LAN adminis trator and thetechnician support has to be informed.

    5.2.2. IP Address of the Local Area Connection up to Software V2.4

    Note: This settings are necessary when the MMR System wil l be accessed

    via LAN.

    Make sure Obtain an IP addressautomatically  (DHCP) ischecked. 

    Close the window with OK.

    6.1. START THE ADD/REMOVE WIZARD IN WINDOWS 2000 SYSTEMS

    Note: Each role is allocated to one loopback adapter. If it is necessary to

    install a loopback adapter for a new role (user) it is also necessaryto create a new mmrDialInUser. See chapter 'IncomingConnections'.

    1. Click Start Control Panel 

    Network and Dial-upConnections.

    2. Open the Network and Dial-upConnections  and rename thenew loopback adapter.

    The new Microsoft Loopback Adapter is named Local AreaConnection 2.

    It is necessary to rename the newloopback adapter.

    Note: The new name has to

    be Local_IP5.

    This name is allocated toaccount-No. 5.Look up the related account-numbers, roles and login namesin the software of the MasterController,menu MMR Master Controller \Configuration \ Accounts.

    3. Open the context menu and clickProperties  to customize the IPaddress and subnet mask of theloopback adapter.
