Mission

To build and to sustain a Centre of Excellence in Accelerator Science and Technology for the UK

Created in 2001 with 20 staff (all ex-SRD) and £750k !

Now runs a £9M programme and involving 90 FTE(+ HEI effort)


Strategic Vision

Engage/advise internal and external stakeholders

Build (and lead some) collaborations and partnerships

Master and deliver modern technology base

Undertake advanced facility design studies

Pursue generic advantages

Underpinning R&D, including technology and novel science

Matrixed staffing from 5 Groups

Oversight by ASTAB plus specific project apparatus

Any emerging UK AST strategy must utilise STFC skills and experience at DL and RAL
