We enjoy the home paper veiy much, the stories, current news and es- pecially Ihe editorials. 1 think if we had a few more editors like the Lowell Ledger has, that will come out and say what he thinks and put it in" print 1 about some of our political men, those whom are supposed to be representing the people, and if they keep on helping to ^ smother our press, we will have i a Russia of our own here ut • pco- j pie's intelligence bureau. We see by the local papers the East has been having some real win- ter. I he nearest we have come to [ winter in The Dalles so far this! year, is a little sugar snow and ! a few Hurries of snow over on : the Klickital hills which are six I miles distance. I also picked some violets last Sunday. Ol course, I'm not bragging on Or- egon, for we may yet get some winter, but even so, it won't last long. We have bad an ex- ceptionally large amount of rain this year and the farmers are delighted over the prospects of next wheat crop. We know the tanner feeds the world and he should be met squarely with the marketing of his produce. We are some busy on the railroads, moving hundreds of carloads of lumber daily besides other products. So we "must all do our share and help win the war. Yours truly, Paul Curtiss, 501 F. 3rd St.. L O W P I I People Tell How To Act Time.

Kidney diseases arc very danger-ous. They come on silently, gain ground rapidly, and cause thousands of deaths lhat could have been pre-vented by proper treatment in the beginning. Nature f^ives early warnings of kidney disease—-back-ache, twinges of pain when stoop-ing or lifting, heauaches and bladder disorders. If these symptoms are un-heeded. there is grave danger of Bright's disease. Doan's Kidney Pills have earned a reputation for their effectiveness in kidney troubles, and are known and recommended the world over. Lowell testimony proves the merit of Doan's Kidney Pills to our readers.

Mrs. Julia Hildreth. Washington St., Lowell, says: "I got Doan's Kidney Pills from winegar's drug store when I was suffering f rom! backache that had troubled me for a j long time. I found them to be a line kidney medicine. They rid me of the aches and pains, regulated my kid-neys and did me good in every wav. My kidneys have since been nor-mal and my health has been bet-ter."

Price Mc at all dealers. Don't simply ask for a kidney r e m e d y -get Doan's Kidney Pills—the same that Mrs. Hildreth had. Foster-Mil-burn Co., Props., Buffalo N. V.
