ONIONISEUnlike Sachin’s expected century of centuries before
creating a museum of cricket lore, with the deity’s statufiedeffigy by the best of Madam Tussaud’s sculptors, we, theproud people of Bharat, owe to ourselves the ultimateexpositionof the truth that the humble ONION, our satvicvegetable, has beendiscovered by our pure saints as a foodthat is light and easy to digest and promote clarity andperception with potential to unfold love and compassion, forgiveness, austerityand feeling of contentment.
You must read your brief several times before you talkto a lawyerfor he is sure to ask,”So that is why theKauravas were decimated by the Pandavas, who wereonion eaters?”. Bhima might, in arrogance, reply,”Youbet” and hint that Kentucky Fried Chicken is for the lesserlevel of humans like the Americans and their imitators likeMukesh Ambani, who is the latest convert to KFC-hall offame.
For the nearly 50 crore Indians, the satvic humble onionis THE FOOD. But the onion farmer has to contend withcrooks called traders who resort to a simple trick calledhoarding to create scarcity in the market. Then a hundredrupee a kilo of the satvic food appears affordable and, if thescrew is tightened further, even Rs. 150 would appearreasonable, for law has not yet fixed a ceiling on bleedingthe buyer. When the Onion price in the national capitaltouchesRs 300, a statue of the ETERNAL ONION shouldbe erected in the lawns of Raisina Hill .
