HISTORY The village established in the year 1935 when Mr. Mahadeb Balabantrai came
and settled there. He started cultivation of paddy by acquiring about 46 Acres of land
To Guard his farm land from crop losses by elephant, he employed two tribals named Singha Pingua and Kandura Munda of Keojhar and Mayurbhanj respectively who also started settling subsequently
Gradually their descendants continued to stay there and the villagers reported to have more than 100 households residing in the village at one point of time.
In the process of relocation of villages inside the forest Forest Department evacuated many of the families in the village.
While the division of districts took place, the village was further divided Part of the village is now in Cuttack district and the rest portion is in the
Khurda District The Microplan covers only part of Village (Under Khurda District) Bhakunka

SCHOOL
The villagers are mostly illiterate or semi-literate. There is no school building available inside the village. An old goatry farm of SHG group is presently being utilized as primary school. Two teachers use to take the classes for the students
The middle school and high school is at Daruthenga which is located at a distance of 6 kms from Bhalunka
ANGANWADI
There is no Anganwadi building available in the village.
The Anganwadi is run inside the private building of child
care unit of Barda Binayaka Vidyalaya, P.P. Tribal
Academy. The Anganwadi is run in one hamlet which is
having 6 Households. The distance between the two
hamlets is about 1 Km. Hence the small children of other
hamlets are reluctant in going to the Anganwadi.
MEDICAL FACILITY
The village is very poorly connected by road. The mud road gets
waterlogged during the rain which makes the ambulance
impossible to approach the village in case of an emergency. The
emergency patients are carried on the bed for 1 to 2 kms till the
nearest road point from where they can be evacuated with the help
of ambulance. The nearest primary health centre is at Barang which
is 10 Kms from the village. Nearest hospital is at Cuttack which is
20 Kms from the village.
