M A R K E T RESTAURANT + BAR WINE LIST “Wine is one of the agreeable and essential ingredients of life.” ~ Julia Child ~ We at Market believe that when paired well, wine and food create a perfect marriage. Each brings out the full potential in the other–they complete each other. Our wine list is designed to complement the menu & flavors of our Executive Chef/Owner Carl Schroeder. Each wine is specifically chosen with Chef Schroeder’s cuisine in mind. The Chef searches out only the best of ingredients, obtaining them from those farmers, fishermen, and ranchers who have made a commitment to producing items that are of the highest quality available on the market. We mirror this philosophy in sourcing wines for our guests’ enjoyment. Winemakers who have the strictest of standards are represented here. We give preference to smaller producers who have complete control of their grapes from vine to bottle and who are as obsessed with quality as we are. Since we’re always looking for new great wines and because many of the wineries listed here have a very small production, this list continually changes. As the Chef changes his menu to reflect the best available in- season ingredients, we change ours to ensure that we offer the best available wines to complement his menu. We are committed to obtaining the highest quality products for our menus, both food and wine. We hope you enjoy our selections. WINE LIST
“Wine is one of the agreeable and essential ingredients of life.” ~ Julia Child ~
We at Market believe that when paired well, wine and food create a perfect marriage.
As the Chef changes his menu to reflect the best available in-season ingredients, we change ours to ensure that we offer the best available wines to complement his menu.
We are committed to obtaining the highest quality products for our menus, both food and wine. We hope you enjoy our selections.

SOMMELIER SELECTIONS “A bottle of good wine, like a good act, shines ever in the retrospect.”
~ Robert Louis Stevenson ~ ~ WHITE ~
Schramsberg, Blanc de Noirs North Coast, CA 2014 98 In 1965, Jack and Jamie Davies established Schramsberg on property originally owned by Jacob Schram, setting out to make world class sparkling wine to match the prestige and quality of French Champagne. To this day, Schramsberg stands unrivaled in California, with a fine example of a Pinot Noir-dominated wine, showing classic creamy, round, yet gentle fruit notes exhibited by the varietal. The Chardonnay flashes a little bit of “zing” to match the full-body mouthfeel. Buisson-Charles, “Vieilles Vignes” Meursault AOC, France 2016 122 Buisson-Charles is the result of three generations of winemaking throughout Volnay, Pommard and of course, Meursault. The “Vieilles Vignes” in this village Chardonnay average 45 or more years of age, with various plots and terroirs used, giving it striking balance from crisp freshness and tension, to minerality and characteristic texture and body. Coupled with the concentration of the vintage, this is an exemplary Meursault drinking superbly at the moment. Alfred Merkelbach, Riesling, Ürziger Würzgarten Mosel, Germany 2016 62 Brothers Alfred and Rolf took over this estate from their ill father, with Alfred being the eldest at 14 years old! The “Ürziger Würzgarten”, or Spice Garden, vineyard’s name is well earned, as it is mainly comprised of iron-rich red slate, giving the wine a minerality unlike any other along the Mosel River. Ripe aromas of exotic fruit, white peach, and pineapple are coupled with notes of cinnamon and clove. Density and richness on the palate makes this off-dry Riesling an absolute pleasure to sip with sushi, Asian plates, or completely on its own!
~ RED ~ EnRoute, Pinot Noir, “Les Pommiers” Russian River Valley, CA 2017 110 In the 1980’s, the partners at Far Niente began experimenting with Pinot Noir. 30 years later, EnRoute was born out of one of the smallest appellations in Sonoma, the Green Valley, lying in the southwestern edge of the region. Vineyards have been planted in what was once an abandoned apple orchard, for which the wine is appropriately named. Dense cherry notes float out of the glass immediately, along with rich dark fruit and fall spice. The mouthfeel is round and rich, yet balanced with great structure, making the wine approachable even in its youth. Domaine du Coulet, Syrah “Brise Cailloux” Cornas AOP, France 2012 114 Working with 16 hectares of vineyards throughout Cornas and Côtes du Rhône planted in 2000, Matthieu Barret practiced a more radical approach to the wine. In 2006, he began using more concrete eggs instead of wood barrels, relying strictly on horse (and mule!) power, and creating watering holes and meadows. This gave the vineyards a wild and natural feel than just a barren land of old vines, what he calls “green spaces”. The result is a beautiful, unmistakable example of 100% Syrah, opulent and smoky, with strong tones of dark fruit and olive. La Rioja Alta, Tempranillo Blend “Viña Ardanza” Rioja, Spain 2000 192 When it comes to Rioja, it does not get anymore legendary than this iconic producer. Founded in 1890, the long history of the estate speaks for itself in its superb wines, producing elegance and finesse, more so than weight and power. This classic rendition brings together Tempranillo and Garnacha, for a dose of dried tobacco, cedar, bright red berry, finishes with baking spice, and balanced with harmonious tannins that are fully integrated in this magnificent Reserva offering.
