The 918 Spyder prototype combines high-tech racing features and electro-mobility to offer a range of qualities: An emis-

sion level of just 70 grams CO2 per kilometre on fuel consumption of three litres/100 km (equal to 94 mpg imp) truly

outstanding even for an ultra-compact city car, on the one hand, combined with the performance of a super sports car and

acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h in just under 3.2 seconds, top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph) plus, and a lap

time on the Nordschleife of Nürburgring in less than 7:30 minutes, faster than even the Porsche Carrera GT, on the other.

The 918 Spyder is one of three Porsche models with hybrid drive making their world debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor

Show. This trio – made up of Porsche’s new Cayenne S Hybrid SUV with parallel full-hybrid drive, the 911 GT3 R Hybrid

racing car with electric drive on the front axle and a flywheel mass battery, and the two-seater high-performance 918

Spyder mid-engined sports car with plug-in hybrid – clearly demonstrates not only the great bandwidth of this new drive

technology, but also the innovative power of Porsche as a genuine pioneer in hybrid drive.

The highly innovative 918 Spyder concept car combines Porsche’s Intelligent Perfor-

mance technology, high-tech in motorsport, and classic but modern design to make

a truly convincing statement.

The Porsche 918 Spyder with plug-in hybrid provides the performance of a thor-

oughbred super sports car on fuel consumption of just three litres/100 kilometres

in the New European Driving Cycle, equal to a CO2 emission rating of 70 g/km.

This open two-seater is powered by a high-speed V8 developing more than 500

bhp and running at maximum speed engine of 9,200 rpm as well as electric motors

on the front and rear axle with overall mechanical output of 218 bhp (160 kW).

The V8 combustion engine is a further development of the highly successful 3.4-litre

power unit already featured in the RS Spyder racing car and positioned midship

in front of the rear axle, giving the car the right set-up for supreme performance on

the race track through its good balance.

The energy reservoir is a fluid-cooled lithium-ion battery positioned behind

the passenger cell. The big advantage of a plug-in hybrid is that the battery

can be charged on the regular electrical network. A further point is that the

car’s kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy fed into the battery

when applying the brakes, thus providing additional energy for fast and

dynamic acceleration.

With the hybrid drive system offering this wide range of individual modes and

applications, the 918 Spyder is able either to achieve lap times comparable to

those of a thoroughbred racing car – such as less than 7:30 minutes on the Nor-

dschleife of Nürburgring – or, focusing on a more economical style of motoring,

with a reduction in emissions to just 70 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

by 70 kilograms (154 lb). The super sportscar from Sant’Agata Bolognese boasts a dry weight of no more than

1340 kilograms (2954 lb) – the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini’s range, and a new arrival in one of

the most exclusive market niche segments.

One key factor is the exterior and interior components made from carbon-fiber. Carbon-fiber is ideal for the manufacture

of sportscars as its use allows for weight reduction and improved mechanical features. The car’s performance is thus en-

hanced thanks to a better weight-to-power ratio and reduced total mass, which means that CO2 emissions are also lower.

Lamborghini has been at the forefront in this material’s application for many years, and now the brand is extending its

leadership even further.

The V10 power unit with 5.2 liters (317,6 cu in) of displacement generates 419 kW (570 CV*) in the Gallardo Superleg-

gera. This puts the weight-to-power ratio of the new top model at only 2.35 kilograms (5.18 lb) per CV and guarantees

breathtaking performance. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera handles the dash from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in

3.4 seconds and flies past the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark only 10.2 seconds later, ultimately reaching 325 km/h (202

mph). The engine with “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” gasoline direct injection also boasts an impressive degree of ef-

ficiency. Its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 20,5 percent compared to the previous model.

The Gallardo Superleggera is an uncompromising driving machine. Its running

gear, with its mighty braking system, has a dedicated and exceptionally precise

set-up, while its 19-inch wheels, Pirelli P Zero Corsa, clad in Pirelli sports rubber,

are extremely light. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera brings a

whole new meaning to the term “super sportscar”.

Alongside its specialized carbon-fiber lightweight components, the Lamborghini

Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is delivered ex-works with an array of other

high-end features. Highlights include the e-gear transmission – a manual gear-

box is also available at no additional cost – the dedicated set-up, the Pirelli

sports tires and the sports seats. Alcantara upholstery and a hand-stitched steer-

ing wheel also set the interior ambiance.

The range of special equipment is particularly sporty. It includes carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs, four-point seat

belts, fire extinguisher and a steel roll cage. Visual impact can be further increased by a rear spoiler and the

engine bay for the engine compartment – both from carbon-fiber – as well as colored brake calipers.

For the interior, Lamborghini offers special floor mats and leather steering wheels, a storage package and an

alarm system. An additional carbon-fiber package includes center console and instrument panel trim, the park-

ing brake handle, parts of the steering wheel and the door handles. A LED light package illuminates the engine

compartment, the interior, and the entry area.

Additional features of special equipment increase comfort, such as the multimedia navigation system, the lifting system

which raises the front of the car to enable driving over obstacles, a remote control for opening garage doors and a rear

Here is the latest addition to the Wicked-7 Steel Mega Wide Body family by Wicked Motor Works. This Custom

Commissioned beauty was built for a businessman that owns restaurants spanning the Mediterranean region and

beyond. With their client’s wishes in mind, they set out to build a very unique Wicked-7 Porsche.

They began by replacing all of the body panels on this 996 Porsche Cabriolet with all new Generation 2010

Porsche 997 Turbo Steel Body Panels. Then they cut and extend the turbo body panels to their Wicked-7 Mega

Wide Body Specs, which are nearly eight inches wider than a stock turbo in the rear and nearly 4 inches wider

than a stock turbo in the front. Then it was on to the body enhancements phase.

Wicked-7 Porsches come with Mega 20” Wheels which are about 14 inches wide in the rear with a 7 inch outer

Lip. No other exotic street vehicle has wheels this wide or an outer wheel lip this massive. But the look compliments

the equally massive and stunning Wide Body Panels. Because the wheels are so massive, Wicked builds the wide

quarter panels and fenders to form the Mega Wide Wheels in the conversion process. In fact, the wheels are so

Each of Wicked-7 Porsches are adorned with exclusive Wicked-708 design body enhancements

parts, which are exclusively produced for their numbered Wicked-7 Porsches only and are not

available for sale separately. These parts consist of the Wicked-708 Design front Bumper, which

has a haunting and demonic look with huge gaping intakes which are lined with Carbon Fiber,

an amazing contrast against the background color of the vehicle as well as an arrow dynamic

guide for airflow to the cooling system. The LED blinker lamps are recessed back into the intakes

to give the entire bumper an aggressive look and stance. The lower valance is also made in

Carbon Fiber to add to the Carbon appointments. The ends of the front bumper have Shark fin

like openings to accentuate the side profile of the bumper as well as allow for the air to flow in-

through-and-out of the bumper so as to reduce wind resistance as does the GT3 Style top vent.

The Rear Wicked-708 Bumper is probably one of the most aggressive and stunning rear bumpers on the market

today. The famous 4-Barrel Exhaust System is just out of this world. The center section of the bumper is made of a

perforated steel mesh to allow for maximum heat aspiration, generated by the high performance engine, exhaust

System and Turbo’s. The Side Shark Gill design allows for exiting air flow to pass through the intercoolers and

out to the rear of the vehicle allowing maximum arrow dynamics flow. Finally, the lower section of the bumper is

designed with a gorgeous Carbon Fiber diffuser which complements the aggressive rear look of the vehicle beauti-

fully as well as allowing for air flow to come up and out from under the vehicle in the rear.

The Wicked-708 Trunk and Wing is inspired by the new generation GT2, which has the side air intakes that flank

the rear of the vehicle and allow for huge gulps of air to flow into the engine bay. The Wing is designed to have a

sleeker and more streamlined look, the flaps are a bit longer to the front point and the entire Wing arch is opened

up a bit wider for a very exotic look and allow for maximum down force for more stability. Finally, it is finished

with a gorgeous rear Carbon Fiber Wing Blade that is slightly tilted upwards to aid in the down force. The final

look and function is just breathtaking.

Roland Gumpert and his executive team came to Arizona last week to finalize their official GUMPERT

apollo launch into the USA market. Mr. Gumpert seemed caught a bit off guard at the Rock Star reception

he received from automotive enthusiasts and holiday shoppers alike. Mr. Gumpert, Founder and President

of Gumpert Sportswagenmanufaktur GmbH and designer of the GUMPERT apollo was in the US to meet

with his new distribution and technical partner, Evolution MotorSports in Tempe, AZ.

Gumpert GmbH and Evolution MotorSports signed a Letter of Intent in March of 2009 while both com-

panies worked out the logistics of bringing the current world record holder of the quickest lap at the

Nürburgring in Germany. On 13 August 2009, the apollo S set an official record for a street legal, fully

homologized automobile with a lap time of 07:11:57 at the Nordschlife.

During his trip to Arizona, Mr. Gumpert attended an event at UTI (Universal Technology Institute) where

he gave a short speech about the development of the apollo, attended a PCA (Porsche Club of America)

event in Cave Creek, Arizona and a Concourso Ferrari event, at the Boulders in Scottsdale Arizona.

Mr. Gumpert also spent an evening getting to know the market with a casual dinner with members of the

Scottsdale Exotic Car Club at Scottsdale, Arizona hot-spot the Yard House. With a dozen Italian and Ger-

man super cars lined up in valet, the crowds were excited to shoot their cell phone cameras at the apollo

and pose for pictures with the iconic Mr. Gumpert. Also in attendance with the Scottsdale Exotic Car Club

were a Bugatti Veyron, a pair of 800 horsepower EVOMS Porsche’s, Audi R8, Lamborghini Gallardo,

Murciélago and few other EVOMS Insanely Tuned Luxury Exotics.

Mr. Gumpert wrapped up his trip with a shake down of the apollo at the Bondurant School of High Per-

formance Driving in Chandler, AZ. Among those present to evaluate this record setting car were Mr. Bob

Bondurant, founder of the school that bares his name, Darren Law, Rolex champion, Ian James, Daytona

Prototype Champion, Mike McGovern, Chief driving instructor and Mike Speck, Performance Driving

instructor.

The overwhelming response to the speed and drivability of the Gumpert apollo was best summed up by

one of the professional racers, who asked that he not be named when he asked mister Gumpert, “How

long will it take to build mine?”

Coming from AUDI, Roland Gumpert has a long and impressive track record

in car development and motor sport. During his time as Director of the AUDI

Sport Department the Quattros from Ingolstadt won 25 races in the World Rally

Championship and 4 World Rally Championship Titles. The GMG Sportwa-

genmanufaktur Altenburg GmbH was founded and Gumpert pressed ahead

with the development of the Apollo.

Pioneering luxury Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer and electric carmaker Tesla Motors have teamed up in a world-

wide partnership as the iconic Swiss brand celebrates its 150th anniversary.

On display at the Geneva Motor Show is the 2010 TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster. This one-of-a-kind collector’s car

includes a unique interior by Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, incorporating TAG Heuer avant-garde

design elements and a specially designed center console due to host TAG Heuer’s cutting edge concept watch,

to be revealed in Basel on March 18.

This car also features a TAG Heuer Meridiist mobile phone as well as a one-fifth second Heuer Limited Edition

Stopwatch. This Swiss-made timepiece with mechanical movement pays tribute to the 1860 founding of the com-

pany and evoques the mythic revival of the brand’s vintage stopwatches.

The car’s exterior color scheme is Foucault Field Gray, embodying the innovative spirit of both companies. The

design was inspired by the new TAG Heuer concept watch, a technical milestone in mechanical movements, which

brings technologically advanced art to life through motion.

The 2010 TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster will remain at the Tesla booth during the public show days, March 4-14 at

the Palexpo-Geneva conference center. The car will then be driven to Baselworld, the world’s largest watch exhibi-

tion, for a special event March 18.

Since its founding in an artisan’s workshop in the Swiss Jura, TAG Heuer

has become one of the world’s best-known luxury brands -- maker of

Engine tuning using a supercharger is NOVITEC ROSSO’s recipe for making the Ferrari California even more power-

ful and even sportier. The new supercharged engine represents an increase in power output for the 4.3-liter V8 from

standard 460 hp to 606 hp / 446 kW. Powered by this engine the 2+2-seater car sprints from 0 - 100 km/h in under

3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 325 km/h. Custom-tailored NOVITEC ROSSO wheels with diameters of 21

and 22 inches, a sporty aerodynamic-enhancement kit and exclusive interior options add further striking highlights.

The system also includes a water-to-air intercooler, a custom intake manifold and larger injectors. On the exhaust side

the car is equipped with a NOVITEC ROSSO stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with sport catalysts. An

integrated flap mechanism activated by a small switch on the steering wheel called the ‘manettino’ controls the intensity

of the exhaust note.

Precision-calibrated mapping for the engine electron-

ics ensure optimal power yield, perfect reliability and

compliance with strict Euro IV exhaust emission limits.

The NOVITEC ROSSO compressor conversion bumps

power output of the ragtop GT from standard 460 hp

/ 338 kW to 606 hp / 446 kW at 7,900 rpm. Simul-

taneously peak torque grows from 485 Nm to 603 Nm

at 5,500 rpm. The car’s performance speaks volumes:

Acceleration from rest to 100 km/h takes less than 3.8

seconds; top speed increases to 325 km/h.

In addition to more power NOVITEC ROSSO also of-

fers exclusive upgrades for body, suspension and the

interior. The body of the California is dressed up in a

sporty yet elegant designer suit which is also available

in a version made from Carbon. The shape of the NO-

VITEC ROSSO front spoiler was developed in the wind

tunnel and it lends the front-engine sports car an even

more dynamic profile. And with its sophisticated shape

the spoiler reduces lift on the front axle for further im-

proved directional stability at high speeds.

door car. The aerodynamic concept is

rounded out with a rear diffuser and rear

spoiler lip that both further minimize un-

Gorgeous three-piece NOVITEC ROSSO NF3 wheels help further improve driving dynamics. The combination

of size 9Jx21 wheels in front and size 11.5Jx22 on the rear axle further emphasizes the wedge shape of the

sports car. Technology partner Pirelli supplies high-performance tires custom-tailored to this vehicle. The tires are

mounted in size 255/30 ZR 21 on the front axle. In the rear tires in size 315/25 ZR 22 provide optimal traction.

ride height of the Ferrari by some 35 mm. The suspension engineers have further developed a custom feature that

makes the California even better suited for everyday use. A hydraulic lift system for the front axle can raise the

front of the car by 40 mm at the push of a button. This makes it easier to navigate obstacles such as speed bumps

or parking garage ramps. The front reverts to its original position at a second push of the button or automatically

when going 80 km/h. •
