Tims Memorial Presbyterian Church is becoming

Lutz Community Church!

What are the reasons and rationale behind this name change?

1. Nobody knows who Tims, or should I say, “Tim,” is.

2. Memorial focuses on the past, while we have an exciting future ahead.

3. Unchurched people don’t know what Presbyterian means.

4. We should remove any barrier that stands in the way of reaching people for Christ.

5. Formal names often indicate stuffy and unwelcoming churches.

6. Our church name does not identify us as a part of our community.

7. Our church name is not inviting to the outsider.

As for the new name, it faithfully describes who and what we are: People of God for the Lutz community.

We remain a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

In order to reflect our call to be a church of Jesus Christ FOR our community, Session has changed our

mission statement to Love God, Love One Another, Love Our Community.

Our vision is to be a place where the hopeless find hope, the stranger finds welcome, the lonely find fami-

ly, and the wandering find home. We will grow people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ through

a simple process of connecting people to God, to one another, and to the community.

Session prayerfully made this decision after many months of discernment and input from the congrega-

tion. Our mission will never change, and we believe this new name reflects that mission more accurately.

We are still the same church, just with a new name.

We will be officially launching the new name in August, but you will begin to see signs of the transition be-

tween now and then.

On behalf of the Session, I would like to thank you all for your patience, your faith, your input, and your

prayers as we worked through this discernment process. Now, let’s BE THE CHURCH for our community!

July 30-Augst 3: Piano, Guitar, Woodwinds, and Voice Camp

Hi everyone! My name is Alison and I am the new Church Office Ad-ministrator! I have met a few of you but for those of you who haven't

feel free to swing by the office! A little about me: I am graduating in the spring of 2019 with a double

major in finance and business administration from St. Petersburg College in Tarpon Springs. I enjoy participating in community theater at Carrollwood Players in Carrollwood, playing my saxophone, going

to Disney with my husband, and listening to Jimmy Buffett! I have been married to my amazing husband for 2 months and I have two

cats named Rae-Rae and Theo! I'm looking forward to meeting you all and growing alongside you in
