Antica Sicilia opened earlier this year in a space at Ivy Place on 3300 South. This restaurant is the younger sibling of Sicila Mia, located in Holladay. The white over black tablecloths give the place a bit of elegance and there is a lot of natural light. The menu is diverse, you have 20 appetizers, half dozen soups, salads and 20 house made pasta dishes to select from. If dessert is your weakness there is an array to choose from. Cookies, Chocolate Mousse, Cream Puffs and More!

SATURDAY NITE LIVE Once a month - usually the second Saturday - a fun group of Newcomers’ gathers to enjoy a potluck meal together in a member’s home. The host provides dishes and utensils but does not provide any food or drink.

Public Relations Unit, Salt Lake City Police Department Christina Judd, Director of Public Relations, and her staff of police officers will talk with us about services they provide to the Police Department and to the community at large. This unit within the Police Department oversees several ways that citi-zens can interact with the Police Department. For example, Volunteer Corps is a way to empower ”residents to work with the police to effectively combat crime problems in the community together”. Safecam is “a volun-tary program that allows businesses and homeowners to share or provide access to their surveillance systems in the event of a criminal incident near them”. Community Connection Team helps provide a safe environment for
individuals to access individualized care and support appropriate community resources. The unit is active on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. You can access any of these platforms through their web site http://www.slcp.com/. A tour of the impressive Public Safety Building will be given after the presentation.

BRIDGE FOR FUN! Fun bridge meets the third Wednesday of each month. We start with appetizers at 6:00 and bridge at 6:30. We have a lot of fun! If you are interested in playing or need details please contact Laurel Eisinger. You do not have to have a partner! Participants are asked to bring an appetizer and your preferred beverage.
BUDDY BRIDGE Buddy Bridge begins in September and runs through April. Daytime and "couples" evening sessions are played. If you wish to play, please contact Paulette or Nancy for information. There is a $10.00 per person fee which must be sent to Paulette or Nancy.
MAH-JONGG is a game of skill, strategy, calculation and involves a degree of chance. We follow American rules with groups of 2, 3 or 4 players. Our location
changes every Wednesday and we play at member’s homes and at local restaurants. Please contact Carol to join us. We meet at 11:30am for lunch and
then play until 3:00pm. Everyone is welcome and we will teach you to play.

FRIDAY HIKING: Meet at 9:00am. Come hike with us and enjoy the colorful Fall leaves and cooler temperatures. Everyone is welcome. Hikes are easy to moderate and take 3 to 4 hours. Meet at a predetermined location and carpool to trailhead. Con-tact Sophia to get on the email distribution list.
RMSG CASUAL HIKING/WALKING This group hikes on Fridays when weather allows. We will decide which trail as the weather indicates. Lou will send out notices a day or two before. All are welcome.
RMSG NINE HOLE GOLF We play on Thursdays from April through October. We alternate play between Glendale, Forest Dale and Rose Park golf courses. We have a wide range of handicaps for men and women. Join us! Contact Ken for more information.

Newsletter Information Submissions: Please submit to appropriate group/activity chairperson. General interest items may be submitted to the Executive Board for approval. The Executive Board meets the last Tuesday of the month. Newsletters are mailed between the 10th-15th of the month for the subsequent month. Membership Information
Newcomers to the Salt Lake area are eligible for membership in the Club at any time. A prospective member may attend as a guest to any three social functions, such as luncheons, parties, sports, games, etc. Membership in the Newcomers’ Club is required for attendance at other functions after these three initial guest visits.
The Newcomers’ membership/fiscal year begins on June 1 and ends May 31 of the following year. Dues are currently $30 payable by June 1 of the current membership year. Renewal notices are sent out in March.
If membership renewals are not received by June 1, a member is considered to be non-current. Only current members appear in the annual directory, receive monthly newsletters, and are allowed to participate in Newcomers’ activities. A late fee of $10 will be assessed to those who turn in their renewal fees late.
Dues for new members who join in March, April, or May are $40, which pays through May 31 of the following year.
