Vocal students are encouraged to join our choir and bands. Our bands, ensembles and soloists have enjoyed success at various Eisteddfods and Festivals. Lessons Lessons take place on a weekly basis with students attending an individual 30 minute lesson. Lesson times are rotated during the hours of 8.15am to 3.15pm so that a student does not miss the same scheduled class each week. Year 11 & 12 students will attend lessons outside of their normal timetabled classes. Students will receive a total of 32 lessons per year, though this will vary for students completing Years 11 and 12. Fees will be varied accordingly. Fees for lessons will be charged at the beginning of the year. Payment in full or a satisfactory payment plan must be in place within two weeks of receiving the statement. This payment is separate from school fees. A music diary is supplied to record homework practice and for the tutor to communicate with the student and parents. Students will be required to purchase their own sheet music and books. Attendance All students and parents will receive their Tutor’s contact details prior to the commencement of lessons. Parents must notify Tutors of any unforeseen absences (ie illness) before 7.30am on the day of the lesson (on his/her mobile phone or email). The tutor will endeavor to reschedule the lesson at a later date. Lessons will be rescheduled if 24 hours notice is given for school events, excursions or appointments. If 24 hours notice is not given, the missed lesson will be charged. Although Tutors may have access to school calendars, please do not assume they will be aware of an event. Where a Tutor is unable to give a lesson, the parent and student will be notified via email and the Tutor will endeavor to reschedule the lesson at a later date. If it is not possible, there will be a no charge for the missed lesson. Where a student does not attend a lesson and no correspondence has been received by the Tutor, the lesson will be charged. Parents will be contacted by the Head of Music after two missed lessons. Parents are required to give one term (8 weeks) notice in writing to the Head of Music for students wanting to withdraw from instrumental tuition. In the event the student stops attending the lesson, the eight week notice period will still be charged.
