B I O G R A P H Y

Luko Devine formerly known as Luko Devine was born a.k.a. Jocelyn Beauvil on May 18,

1966. Influenced by his native Haitian and Dominican ancestry. Fluent in English, French

Spanish and Creole he artfully weaves French and English throughout his lyrical ballads.

Many of his songs are written and sung in French. Many critics and fans see Bob

Marley’s spirit in his eclectic fusion of ballad, reggae, Caribbean style music. In the

United States, he has performed in several Bob Marley Festivals.

Adjaffi shines when he sings about his experiences and his passions. "Tears of the Children" rekindles the pains of his Haitian heritage. Luko is currently working on a new

video Tears of the Children believing that the part of his life mission should be used to help the most unfortunate who are suffering. Through his music he chooses to spread

hope, peace and love with partial proceeds to benefit his native Haiti during it’s recovery and healing. In an English and French version of "My Village," a warm, tender ballad,

Adjaffi recalls his native land and the beginning of his singing career. He ends the song: "I remember," seemingly a promise to not let go of his past.

With more than five albums to his credits, LUKO ADJAFFI has sold more than 998,000

CDs and downloads via the web digitally and live during his Brazilian tour and the

concerts in the United States from 2007-2010.

THE EARLY YEARS

From the age of five, performing in church, he became a youth sensation by the age of 7 performing in talent competitions all around Haiti. In school, Luko learned classical

music with private French teachers on music theory. At 10 years old he learned to play

the guitar and wrote his first song; "La Bataille" one of his teachers was impressed and noted " you'll be a singer." That little voice inside of Luko pushed him to complete

Elementary School through High School. Luko finally took his education seriously while writing of the sorrow of Haiti's problems.

He attended the University of Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium from 1986-1988 studying music as an exchange student. Three years later he came to the United States of

America where he recorded "La Terre" (1989) after extensive travel to Venezuela, Aruba, Curacao, Germany, Holland, France.

HIS MUSIC

His “New wave world beat music” earned him acknowledgement in The World of Reggae Music Collection, a listing of 104 young and upcoming musicians and vocal artists. The

category “Reggae’s Superstars” has been divided into two volumes. The first volume included roots reggae masters from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s. It was

entitled “Reggae Superstar’s: The Lions of Jah” This second volume entitled, “The Lion



Youth,” focuses on the most current superstars of the Reggae movement (from the

1990s and 2000s).
