In the cyclical relationship between fashion and natures’ seasons a year can be explained quite like a song; summer and winter have the most impact, contain the overall meaning and lay a grand stone in the path of our memories. Larger, but similar in scale to the chorus. Whereas, spring and fall are the bright pebbles, keeping our gaze fixed, and our minds from wandering. Similar in scale to a verse or bridge.

In the spring, both life and weather is changing for the more energetic and colorful. Summer is the time where we simply get to enjoy. Autumn holds with it the shedding and hardening before the cold settles in. Winter is filled with passive wonder.

Gentle is the fall, when the Phoenix gets consumed by red flames, molts its spectacular long fathers it once had and shows its angst amongst the ash that consumes it.

The irohamomiji to the east, the maple to the west. The bright shades of nature’s growth decays into burnt reds, amber, and gold. All now beginning to spoil. In the face of loss, the Phoenix holds its elegant remorse.

While the tree undresses we begin to cover up. Change is of a concern to us, especially when it is for the cold, dark, and quite. In this transition, brights dim to dulls, black and white begin to gray, and plaid weaves its way through the sullen thoughts of those who fear the loss of the days length.

when the phoenix dies

Sparks made. Flames begin their crawl. Both fuzzy to the eye and hand, the pattern of the lumberjack was once the gift of King James V to his lover. The history of crossing linearity begins with the Scottish rebels and continues into the grunge following. At one time, tartan was even abolished by the parliament in the Dress Act for fear of rebellion. Now, it holds its place in the wardrobe of casual hipsters. Despite pop cultures advances to make plaid the stark regalia of preppy school uniforms, it will continue to remain a vogue choice amongst formal settings. For indifference and rebellion, the pattern is here to stay the symbol of change.

The small things, the accessories, the glint of subtlety in body language, the little hint of a wink in ones eye is what makes one appear as if they hold themselves with elegance. With lack of an absolute need for protection the first sight of wings are beautiful, not for their utility, but for the simple fact that they can be. Flight, at this moment, is out of sight. Enjoy the resentment while it lasts. What will the next growth bring?

As the ash arises, winter wind begins to whirl. Before, the next advancement, the next step, we must transform, rebel, and oppose. A painters pallet is first a smeared conglomeration before it is wiped clean. The spectrum bends toward relaxed frequencies as the inferno begins to die. What happens when the light finally goes out?

This fall, the fashion world reveals one of its deepest and most precious secrets of what makes it so fabulous. Designers have recreated a whole new fashion concept combining the simplicity of beauty and the purity of innocence. Photographers have captured moments of behind the scenes drama to the unique figures that have graced the catwalk. It is true that there is only one representation of a stylish and graceful yet sophisticated women both in appearance and manner. This issue, Lucy’s Magazine discovers true elegance. A capture of surreal beauty.

Some fashion designers never fail in incorporating true beauty and elegance into their work. Elie Saab is an astounding global empire with boutiques in Paris, London and Dubai. As a leading haute couturier, his stunning designs has been worn not only by beautiful women, but also by world renowned film stars. His AW14 collection in Paris Fashion Week was simply stunning – inspired by artist Mark Rothko, his collection featured a pallet of rich burgundy with dresses and suiting in chiffon, crepe and velvet details all new to the world of fashion. His evening wear, which is the designer’s strong point, featured carpet sweeping gowns most worthy of Oscars themselves graced the

Marchesa label produces the most amazing elegant event wear, taking inspiration from vintage and Asian influences. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, creators of the label Marchesa thought ‘Bonfires on the Highlands and Burns Night’ when creating their gorgeous AW14 collection; which made for an array of intense golden, sienna and burnt orange tones for feathers and beads on gowns that flustered into shape.

The fashion world always produces the finest creative talent and shows off the most beautiful models you have ever seen. The inspirations that these designs has used to creative beautiful collections are just stunning. Other than the key references the fashion world uses and takes influences and inspirations from, all in all, elegance is most certainly the most pure and simplest form of inspiration. Just like Gorgio Armani says ‘elegance is not standing out, it’s about being remembered.’

style is in sessionBY KIRA HENDERSON

Style is in session so keep reading for everything you need to make the grade this semester, with inspiration straight from your favorite TV shows and movies. With a mix of current and past you are sure to find some style inspiration. So, in an effort to both relax and stock up on some serious style inspiration, we’re looking to our favorite movies and TV shows.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARSThe thing about the “little liars” is that they’re all incredibly stylish but in their own totally unique way. Despite the fact that they’re all best friends, no two girls would ever wear the same outfit. From Aria’s full skirt and Hannah’s rocker chic look there’s a look for each of your friends to try. Not sure about which liars style fits you best, have fun and try them all.

GOSSIP GIRLThere were endless reasons to watch Gossip Girl (twisting plots, cleverly written dialogue, Chuck Bass), but it was the fashion that made it the kind of show worthy of canceling plans in order to watch in real time. Blair and Serena couldn’t have dressed more differently—one prim, proper, and exceptionally uptown, the latter equal parts sophisticated and seductive—both were impeccably stylish.

GREASEAs much as we all love Sandy’s bad girl makeover, it’s her early schoolgirl style that feels particularly perfect for class. Peter Pan collars, pastel cardigans, and tea-length skirts couldn’t be cooler this season. Just maybe don’t wear them all at once.

CLUELESSAll hail Cher. There’s a moment in Clueless when everyone’s favorite valley girl and her partner-in-crime Dion, are walking down the hallway in pleated plaid miniskirts and matching blazers, and it is nothing short of iconic. Nothing captures back-to-school style better than knee-high socks, layered oxfords, fuzzy knits, and button-up minis.Television shows and movies can give you tons of outfit inspiration, so have fun and whether you are in high school or college, you can turn any of these stylish characters looks into your own. Try a few of them, just not all at once.
