INTRODUCTIONWHEN ANY TWO PARTS IN A ENGINE WORKS AS SYSTEM IT PRODUCE WEAR & TEAR AND HEAT DUE TO FRICTION . AT THE SAME TIME VERY HIGH TEMPERATURE IS PRODUCED, DUE TO COMBUSTION OF FUEL IN ENGINE . THESE HEAT ENERGY ARE CAPABLE ENOUGH TO MELT THE ENGINE PARTS, SO TO PREVENT WEAR AND TEAR A SYSTEM IS DEVELOPED IN AUTOMOBILE CALLED AS LUBRICATION SYSTEM.

FUNCTIONS OF LUBRICANTS

LUBRICATE MOVING PART TO MINIMISE WEAR AND TEAR.

ABSORB HEAT FROM ENGINE PARTS THERE BY ACTING AS A COOLING AGENT.

ABSORB SHOCKS BETWEEN BEARINGS AND OTHER ENGINE PARTS THERE BY REDUCING ENGINE NOISE AND EXTENDING ENGINE LIFE.

FORMS A GOOD SEAL BETWEEN PISTON RINGS AND CYLINDER WALLS.

ACT AS A CLEANING AGENT.

FUNCTIONING OF LUBRICATION SYSTEM

When we crank the engine, crankshaft and camshaft rotates. From the scew gear of camshaft, drive gear of oil pump is also rotated which rotates the driven gear of oil pump.This rotation creats a suction at the inlet port, due to which the oil pump draws oil from the oil sump through rigid internal suction tube And oil starts flowing through different parts of engine as under

From Crank pins to respective connecting rods Big end & small end bearings and piston pins.

From no. 1,3 & 5 main journals to no.1,2 & 3 cam shaft bushes.

From MOG to Rocker arm shaft, where after lubricating the whole valve mechanism the oil fall back to the oil sump.

From the MOG to Turbo-charger and vacuum unit (Through benjo bolt and external pipe line)

After lubricating the whole system while falling of lubricant in the sump it is splashed by the weights of crankshaft which lubricates cylinder walls, pistons, gudgeon pins, Big end and small end bearings.

CONCLUSIONAS OF NOW WE HAVE LEARNT ABOUT LUBRICATION SYSTEM. DURING THIS PERIOD WE LEARNT NECCESITY, FUNCTION OF LUBRICANTS, ADVANTAGE OF LUBRICATION, TYPE OF LUBRICATION SYSTEM, PARTS OF LUBRICATION SYSTEM, FLOW OF LUBRICANTS IN THE VARIOUS PARTS OF ENGINE, DEFECTS IN LUBRICATION SYSTEM AND CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF THIS SYSTEM.

SO IF WE PAY PROPER ATTENTION OR NEED TO THE REQUIREMENT OF ENGINE AT DIFFERENT TERRAIN AND CONDITION AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION FOR USING LUBRICATION OIL AND TIME PROCEEDURE OF CHANGING LUBRICANTS WE CAN DEFINATELYN SAVE OR PROLONG THE LIFE OF ENGINE AND PARTS INVOLVED.
