PREPARATION (CONTINUED)STUD SPACING• LP Beadboard panels may be installed parallel or perpendicular to the framing studs. Panel may be applied directly to studs spaced no greater than 24 inches o.c. that meet the bracing requirements in the Framing Support Table. Additional blocking supports may need to be added to provide straight and even fastening support around the entire perimeter of the panel. (See ALL diagrams)

• Space fasteners no more than 6 inches apart around the panel perimeter. Fasteners may be 12 inches apart on intermediate supports. Install the panel using all the specifications in this document. (See ALL diagrams)

• A minimum 3/16 inch gap is required at all square edge joints of the panel.

• Install panel products only on walls whose framing members have been kiln dried or air-seasoned to a moisture content of 19% or lower.

• Do not install panels on walls with crooked framing materials.

• Do not install panels over rain-soaked or buckled sheathing.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS• NAILS: Minimum 8d (0.113 inch diameter shank), hot-dipped galvanized nail with a 0.270 inch diameter head. Apply and treat nailing errors as specified by these instructions. (See diagram 2c)

• SCREWS: Minimum #8 hot-dipped galvanized tapered head wood screw with a 0.270 inch diameter head.

• SEALANT: Use an exterior-quality, non-hardening, paintable sealant. Use Class 25 or higher exterior sealant meeting the ASTM C920 Standard for Specification for Elastomeric Joint Sealants. Follow the sealant manufacturer’s instructions for application.

• PAINT: Exterior-quality 100% acrylic latex paint, specially formulated for use on wood and engineered wood substrates, is highly recommended. PREPARATION (CONTINUED)MOISTURE CONTROL• Moisture control and moisture vapor control are critical elements of proper housing design and construction. Check your local building codes for application procedures for handling moisture and water vapor in your area.

• When using wet blown cellulose insulation, the insulation must not be in direct contact with the panel and it must be allowed to dry a minimum of 24 hours or longer if specified by the insulation manufacturer.

• As with all wood products, do not apply engineered wood panels to a structure having excessive moisture conditions such as drying concrete, plaster, or wet blown cellulose insulation. If such conditions exist, the building should be well ventilated to allow it to dry prior to the application of the panel.

• For interior finish applications over masonry or concrete walls, follow your local building code requirements.

• Gutters with kick-out flashing and eave drip edge are recommended for control of roof water run off.

INSTALLATIONFASTENING INSTRUCTIONS (AS INTERIOR PANEL)• Climb cut the surface of the panel such that the orientation of the blade cuts downward on the primed surface.

• Minimum size framing should be nominal 2 in. x 4 in.

• Shiplap edges must fall on studs. Position underlap shiplap flange at center of stud. (See diagram 3a)

• All panel edges must be supported or backed by solid framing meeting the requirements in the Framing Support Table.

• Penetrate structural framing or wood structural panels and structural framing a minimum of 1-1/2 inches. (See diagram 3a)

• DOUBLE FASTENING AT VERTICAL (SHIPLAP) JOINTS IS REQUIRED.(See diagram 3a)

• Nail the underlap and overlap flanges separately.

• Nails along the underlap flange will be covered by the overlap flange.

• Nails along the overlap flange should be spaced1 inch in from the edge of the panel. (See diagram 3a)

• Space nails 6 inches o.c. on all siding edges and 12 inches o.c. at intermediate framing members. (See diagram 3b)

• Apply and treat nails or screws meeting the specifications in the Equipment Requirements section in this document. (See diagram 2c)
