Loyalist or Patriot
Gallery Walk
This Gallery Walk has students walk around the classroom reading quotes while completing a
corresponding worksheet. Each quote is from either a Loyalist or a Patriot. The men in the pictures do not represent anyone in particular, just different people. Students will decide “who said it” and explain their
thought process.This product includes:1) Galley Walk2) Political Cartoon Analysis3) Create your own political cartoon template4) Loyalist or Patriot sorting worksheet5) Venn diagram template
Gallery Walks are an awesome way to get students up and moving around the classroom, while completing
curriculum-related tasks to help introduce new knowledge or reinforce existing knowledge. I love using
gallery walks in my own classroom because they integrate movement into a lesson. Kinesthetic learners are highly engaged, and classroom management issues
become minimal. Be sure to check out my American Revolution Gallery Walk analyzing primary sources and political cartoons.
1. Make copies of the gallery walk student fill in chart. 2. Print all 12 quotes (color if possible) from pages 3-14.3. Explain your expectations for the gallery walk and
worksheet. 4. Divide students as evenly as possible amongst the 12
quotes.5. You can set a timer for each quote or you can allow
students to work at their own pace.6. Review correct answers as a class or with a partner

1 Loyalist A “traitor” is someone who goes against their own country.
2 Patriot He wants to fight for his freedoms and separatefrom England. He is willing to die for his cause.
3 Patriot Things may be bad now, but the patriots will band together and become stronger in this fight.
4 Loyalist His business relies too heavily on goods traded from England and therefore does not want to separate.
5 Loyalist We can not separate from our home country. That is our heritage, our mother country, it will always be home.
6 Loyalist Keep the British rule as is, it is already working. Trying something new could result in pure chaos.
7 Patriot The government is trying to take our freedoms.
8 Loyalist If we break away things will get crazy. Without England there is no system of laws.
9 Patriot We will fight to the end, we will never give up.
10 Patriot It is difficult to decide to break away from your home country but it must be done.
11Loyalist England has done so much for us, we should not be
opposed to paying taxes for all they have done.
12 Patriot If we do not unite and work together then the fight is over and we will ultimately lose.
