experience renewal or
recreation, what do you
do?
What happens to you
when you go too long
without this activity?
A spiritual or Sacred
Pathway is the way we
most naturally connect
with God and grow
spiritually.
What do you think your
Sacred Pathway is?
Ezekiel 1:1 – 3:15
Feels a wind.
Sees flashes of lightning,
a brilliant light, fantastic
creatures, and a
magnificent and stunning
throne of sapphire casting
off another blinding light.

Hears the roar of rushing
water, the sound of
wings, and a loud
rumbling.
Eats a scroll that tastes
(& smells) sweet.
Sits in silence, stunned,
for seven whole days.
Sound: God commands us
to worship Him with sound!
“Sing to the Lord a new song! Sing
to the Lord, all the earth.” Ps. 96:1
“Praise him with the sounding of the
trumpet, praise him with the harp
and lyre, praise him with timbrel and
dancing, praise him with the strings
and pipe, praise him with the clash
of cymbals, praise him with
resounding cymbals.” Ps. 150:3-4
Smell: Smell can condition
a person to consciously enter
into the presence of God.
“Another angel, who had a golden
censer, came and stood at the altar.
He was given much incense to offer,
with the prayers of all God’s people,
on the golden altar in front of the
throne. The smoke of the incense,
together with the prayers of God’s
people, went up before God from
the angel’s hand.” Revelation 8:3-4
Touch: Another important
and often overlooked sense
used for worship.
“Touch with our lips is a way to
recognize something as
precious,” says Gary Thomas.
(Sacred Pathways, page 69)
Sight: Beauty matters to
God.
“Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it
had been slain, standing at the
center of the throne, encircled by
the four living creatures and the
elders. The Lamb had seven horns
and seven eyes, which are the seven
spirits of God sent out into all the
earth.” Rev. 5:6
Taste: Jesus is the bread
of life. We are the salt of the
earth. The sense of taste is
an invitation to experience
God.
“Taste and see that the Lord is
good…” Ps. 34:8

worship God, be
careful to . . .

Make homemade bread
Walk the North Valley
labyrinth
Carry a simple cross all week
Light a stick of incense
Play a CD/playlist of music
