TheAthensChapterhasstruggledwithmanyofthesameproblemswhichboththestateorganizationandotherchaptersarefamiliar,Iamsure:howtorecruitandretainnewmembers;howtoincreaseattendanceatourmeetings;andhowtoremainrelevantandprovideservicesthememberssaytheywant,inanenvironmentwhichnowfunctionslargelyonline. Tothatend,theChapterBoarddidanonlineneedsassessmentofourmembers.86%ofourrespondentswantedourchaptertocontinue.Whatstoodoutmostintheresponseshowever,wasthedisconnectbetweenwhatourmemberssaytheywant,andwhattheyarewillingtodotoreceivethosebenefits.Forexample,inanswertothequestion,Whatservices/activitieswouldyouliketoreceive?”95%wantedCEprograms,79%wantednetworkingopportunities,58%wantedcommunityserviceopportunities,and37%wantedsocialevents.Yet,attendanceatthoseactivitieswhentheyarepresentedisnotindicativeofmembers’statedpreferences,anditisdifficulttofindvolunteerstoserveasChapterofficersandoncommitteestoplanevents.
