Longs Peak Gazette ________________________________________________________________ Volume II Winter – Spring - 2017 Chapter President's Letter: People join the SAR for various reasons. I suspect many join just for the prestige of being able to prove their pedigree. A lot of research and work goes in to the application process so when you are accepted it gives you bragging rights on your family lineage, and that’s a very enticing thing. But belonging to the SAR should be more than that. Being an active member of a chapter allows you the opportunity to fellowship with other patriotic men brought together by their heritage and dedicated to the preservation of Constitutional freedoms established by the founders. Compatriots within the chapter appear in Patriotic Uniforms while supporting activities, educational events, and honoring military veterans, etc. Just as important, however, are the organizational and administrative operations of a chapter. A chapter’s future and viability relies on leadership and planning. In order for that to happen, there needs to be a commitment and willingness of ALL members to take on leadership roles. Leadership and position turn-over is needed for the continued health of any organization. Increasing membership loses its significance when members aren’t willing to help or get involved. For those Compatriots who have never held any leadership or appointed positions, I encourage you to help lead the chapter forward by stepping-up. The same handful of members can’t continue pulling the load without your help. The continuation of our chapter depends on it!
