  LBWS.com.au presents the 2009 Longboard Windsurfer Festival - It’s all about fun, friends, competitive racing, great blasting and cruising on the beautiful waters of Port Stephens. This event will be a great opportunity to catch up with other

longboard windsurfers from around Australia and check out some of the new longboard equipment that will be on show. There will also be some great racing as the Festival will include the Windsurfer One Design and Raceboard Oceanic Championships. If racing is not your cup of tea, Port Stephens also offers some of the best longboard windsurfer cruising that can be found on the East Coast as well as being an ideal family holiday location with great beaches and numerous activities for windsurfers and non windsurfers. So bring the family and check out the beautiful beaches, sample some local wines or go on a whale and dolphin watching cruise. For further information on the activities in and around Port Stephens check out the Port Stephens - Blue Water Paradise web site at www.portstephens.org.au.  DATES AND LOCATION Friday 23 Jan – Monday 26 Jan Port Stephens Sailing and Aquatic Club – see map on following pages.  APPLICABLE CLASSES & DIVISIONS The event is an open Longboard event. There will be a place for longboards from the 70’s, 80’s, 90,s and the latest gear. That is, bring any longboard and join the fun. Having said that, within the Oceanic championships, there will be specific classes and a number of divisions within each that will have class specific limitations. Please see the relevant class rules and the sailing instructions for further details. Raceboard Class The Raceboard Class will include the following divisions in the Oceanic Championships: − Raceboard 10.5 − Raceboard 7.5 − Female − Youth Male − Youth female − Overall Champion − Silver fleet − Masters / Grand Master

Windsurfer One Design The Windsurfer One Design Class will include the following divisions in the Oceanic Championships: − Heavy weight − Medium weight − Light weight − Female − Youth − Classic (bring your Mrk 1 Dacron sail

and dagger board and join the fun) − Masters / Grand Master

Kona One The Festival will include the popular Kona One Class and its divisions including; − Light weight − Medium weight − Heavy weight − Women

Junior one The festival will include Junior racing which will, depending upon the weather, be run in the morning session. Junior racing will be conducted on the Junior One board which allows a maximum 4.5m2 rig on a Windsurfer One design board or similar.

Longboard wave sailing It is planned to include Longboard wave sailing in the event which will be open to any longboard with a sail. Prizes for this category will be awarded.

Cruising Class The cruising class is for those that don’t want to race but would like to come along to just join in the fun and enjoy some great cruising. While there will be no competition in this class, prizes will be awarded for sailors with great enthusiasm and skill improvement across the long weekend.

Starting procedure All classes will have a separate start. Further details on the starting procedure will be provided in the sailing instructions. However, please note that there must be a minimum of 5 boards to constitute any one class. If this is not achieved this group will sail with one of the other classes.

  ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS The Port Stephens area is a seaside holiday paradise with many great accommodation and entertainment options. Immediately adjacent to the Port Stephens Sailing and Aquatic Club are a number of accommodation options including the Salamander Shores Resort and the BIG4 Soldiers Point Holiday Park. Many more options listed on the www.portstephens.org.au web site. FURTHER INFORMATION Further information including sailing instructions will be developed as the event date gets closer. Rigging and coaching advice will be provided prior to the event from some of the best Australian sailors

Presentation 4 pm at the club
