Parents:

Please try and register your children as early as possible for our classes. Due

to late enrollments in the past, we have had to cancel classes. Our instructors

often need time to prepare for their classes and need adequate notice if a class

is going to be cancelled. Registrations must be received 3 days prior to the

first day of class.

If a class does not have the minimum number of children registered, then the

class cannot be held. If your child has a favorite sport or activity, have them

ask their friends if they would like to join their class; this will help us reach

the minimum number of children that are required.

YOUTH SPORTS SUMMER CAMPS 2016

T-BALL CAMP WITH PARENT (Adult w/child, 2-4 years old)

In this exciting new camp, your young children will be developing

their motor skills while learning the fun of throwing, catching, batting

and running bases. These little athletes and their parents will enjoy

making new friends and working together to learn the basics of the

game. Please have your child bring a mitt (with their name on it),

some sun block & their water bottle. Coached by 5 Star Sports.

This Camp will provide the players a great growing experience that will highlight building both the play-

er’s skill level and joy for the game. Fun games will be played that are as efficient as drills, but are more

effective in creating memorable experiences that the players will want to repeat at home and with friends.

Players will not only learn to play better, but will be shown ways to keep improving themselves once the

camp is over. Shin guards and plastic cleats are recommended, but not required. If you child wants to

bring their own ball, please put their name on it so we can make sure they get it back the following day.

Soccer Camp 2 still has all the fun elements that are in Soccer Camp 1, but the games are taken to the

next level and skill builders are added to ensure that our players are moving towards being the best

players they can be. Fun is still the number 1 goal, but the players will be shown how to drastically

improve in every area of the game. You don’t have to take Soccer Camp 1 to join Camp 2, but it’s

highly recommended, so the players know what to expect and are prepared for the high level of play.

SUPER FUN CAMP (Children going into grades 1st thru 5th)

A half day camp that will keep your kids interested, while having fun in the outdoors. We have a

game plan that includes Dodgeball, Kickball, Speedball, Nerf Combat and Water Gun Battles!!!

Every day your child will come home with stories, and be worn out so they will hopefully go to

sleep early and be ready for tomorrow’s camp. A snack and drink will be provided each day. We

will not be serving anything with nuts, but please disclose if your child has any other allergies that

Our tween camp is designed to help children ages 9-14 years of age develop

leadership skills, while having fun learning various skills and sports. Our

tweens will be helping our younger regular campers 2-3 partial days per week,

BENEFITS OF KI-CAMP

It has been proven that Taekwondo helps children

develop their concentration skills, which in turn helps

them in school.

Children in our program progress at their own rate. Not

only do students learn the physical parts of martial arts,

but there are many educational and mental elements they

are required to learn. This will lead into their schooling

and help with school work, learning, and writing. There

are many physical moves and groups of movements that

need to be memorized. All of this expands their potential

for learning and memorizing school subjects, and will

later lead into success in their careers.

Sending your kids to KI Camp this summer will benefit them in numerous ways,

but the memories they make will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Each

child is different, and it’s important that your child is allowed to have time every

day to do what they consider to be “fun”. We know how important fun is for the

development of good mental health. The lessons that we teach your children today,

will help form their future habits.

Baseball

If your child wants the extra leg up on the competition this is the clinic for them. Our trained staff will make sure

your children improve not only their skill level but also their love and knowledge of the game. The coaches have

been traveling the state of Illinois for 12 years training kids on becoming better players that understand the game at

it's highest level. Your little one doesn't have to be an all star for this clinic. Coached by 5 Star Sports.

T-Ball at the grass roots level. This fun clinic will be both educational and a little competitive. For the first half of each

class the players will learn the skills they will need to become better players in a fun, non stressed environment. We

have many games built in to teach while still allowing for the T-Ballers to have a great time. Then the second half of

the clinic, we will split the kids up and play a game. All your children will need is a glove and some sun block!

Flag Football

Do your kids love football? Do you want them to have fun with the most popular sport in the country

while also learning the right way to play? With 5 Star’s coaching staff your child will learn how to do

everything except tackle while having a blast. Their love for the game will increase alongside their

knowledge for it. Each Monday new skills will be practiced as a warm up before the Monday Night

Football really begins.

Each week new Olympic sports and events will be introduced to our little athletes for them to play with

their parents. They will learn the skills of each sport with our fun based games that are equal to drills, but

are way more fun and engaging for the young superstars. The major sports covered are T-Ball, Basketball,

Soccer, Football and Hockey. Then they will play fun games at the end of the classes, like Kickball,

Dodgeball, Tag, Relay Races and other Track events. At the end of each week you will be advised of what

sport is coming next so you can bring your child’s equipment, if desired. We will always have equipment

on hand for the kids, as well. Coached by 5 Star Sports.

Golf is a great game and can be a lifelong partner that can help bring better fitness and peace of mind.

5 Star Sports coaches will teach the game of golf in a new and exciting way so your kids can develop

their game without being bored while learning. Your child will play challenging golf skill games that

will develop their skills in a fun, team-orientated way. Most of the games can be brought home to play

with mom and dad. To start, plastic balls will be used for technique and safety. If you have your own

clubs, please bring them. It’s always best to get used to your own equipment. If not, we have plenty of

extras.

Golf Lessons


Mini Soccer League

The first week is a practice and skill session. We will determine teams based on the practice.

Starting the second week we will have a twenty minute mini practice before playing two 20

minute halves. Every child will receive a jersey and a trophy at the end of the league.

Soccer

Dribble, pass and SHOOT! In soccer your child will learn the fundamentals of how to play by

starting off learning the skills and the techniques necessary to the sport such as: dribbling, passing

and shooting at goals. They will learn to practice with their foot work around different obstacles to

focus on controlling the soccer ball. Your child will get to interact and practice with their new

teammates, while having fun! They will learn the positions and have a chance to be a goalie. By

the end of the session, they will be split into two teams and get to play a real game. This will show

your child how the game of soccer plays out. Shin guards, gym shoes and a soccer ball (with their

name on it) are recommended but not required.

5 Star Sports coaches have combined the joy of being a big part of your child’s first sports experience with

TRACK


This class is fast! The athletes will be moving nonstop from the first whistle to the final lap. We

will introduce many different events and they will get a chance to learn what they like and what

they excel at. Sprinting, long distance running, hurdles, long jump, high jump, discus, shot put

and relays will all be played. The athletes will compete but the true goal is to beat their times

from the early weeks to the final event on the last day!

SUMMERTIME YOGA

We will continue working on expanding your child’s mind, while strengthening their body with our

Yoga classes, that have become so popular during the school year. Your children will learn breathing

techniques, balancing poses, and even meditation techniques to gain a deeper understanding of the

physical and physiological aspects of Yoga. Yoga helps kids manage stress better and improve their

self confidence. This is the first time we are offering this class during school’s summer vacation.

Don’t miss this great opportunity for your child to participate in this healthy and fun activity.

Our Babysitting program sponsored by Safe Sitter is sure to get your teen on the

right track to become a babysitter. Participants will learn how to care for a choking

infant or child, basic first aid, personal safety for the babysitter, injury prevention,

how to care for children, preventing problem behavior, behavior management,

ethics and babysitting as a business. Program includes a babysitting manual and a completion card.

Participants should bring a baby-sized doll and lunch to all classes.

the various habitats in the country. The intent is not only to showcase a variety of habitats

found in Lake County, but to also introduce participants to many different preserves. These

guided walks are free to seniors and are lead by a Naturalist and paced to a group’s ability
