1 CHAPTER 1 The night wind was crisp and unusually cold for May. Sarah drew her coat around her as she stood on the balcony. She felt the cold metal railing as she leaned over to gaze on the organic water fountain in the courtyard below. A gust of wind whi pped her red t resses around her face. She moved her head so the wi nd would blow her hair gently away from her eyes. A faint scent of rain drifted past her nose as she inhaled deeply. Closing her eyes, Sarah embraced the solace of the night. Music from within the house could be heard, from within the great hall ofher Dallas home, as she began to delve into another world. This private existence could only b e accessed in the recesses of her m ind. Her shoulders began to relax as her min d wandered. How she l oved this tim e alone. In her fantasies s he could do anything and be anyone she wanted. Sarah was also aware that in a few short momen ts her thoughts would be interrupted. At that time she would be forced back into her reali ty. But for now there was no o ne telling her about the latest stock o ption or dro nin g on about whi ch portfolio would make the most interest. Not the slightest hint of her children¶s presence. From here she could almost see her gazebo. How beaut iful it was. This is where she l oved to dream, and to thinkabout her life. It was, in a way, her sanctuary. Sarah¶s mind drifted to her new book set at an ancient Irish castle, overlooking the ocean. For several brief moments she became Eloise, the heroine in Forever Yours. She closed her eyes and could almost smell the salt and feel the spray f rom the waves. In an instant she was runni ng over the moors to gaze at t he sunset, stopping short o f the rocky ledge. T he wind swirled around her, for a briefmoment it felt like a lover¶s embrace. She shivered against the cold and closed hereyes. A pair of strong arms enveloped her and pulled her against an even strongerchest.He came , she thought as she continued to savor every moment.
