Welcome toLondon House London House School of English is a fantastic place to study English.

The school was founded in 1965 giving it a long history of quality and professional language

teaching. We are located in Kent, the Garden of England, in the beautiful seaside town of

Westgate-on-sea. Westgate is only 25km from the famous city of Canterbury, 100km from

London and within easy reach of all major London airports and the port of Dover. Westgate

is a beautiful unspoiled seaside village with a golden sandy beach, small parks, shops and

even its own cinema, golf course and tennis courts. There is also a leisure centre nearby and

activities such as horse riding can be arranged.

Students come to London House from all over the world making sure our classes

have a good mix of nationalities. Our teachers are enthusiastic and dedicated. They use a

variety of up to date teaching techniques and materials. The school has fully equipped

classrooms, a self-access and listening centre, a library, as well as computer rooms with

free internet access and language learning programs. There is a students' lounge with

television, DVD player and we have a garden for the summer.

London Houseprides itself on its friendly teach-

ers and staff. All our teachers have a minimum of a

Cambridge Certificate (CELTA) or Trinity Certificate

(TESOL), some have a Cambridge Diploma (DELTA).

Some teachers are also examiners and assessors for

Cambridge and IELTS. Our teachers are enthusiastic

about teaching the English language and try to use as

many different teaching methods as they can to make

your learning experience fun and varied. They keep up-

to-date with modern teaching techniques by attending

courses and through in-house workshops.

Examination CoursesWe offer a wide range of specialised courses

leading to the major English Language examinations atall levels including:

University of Cambridge KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE

BEC for students of Business English.

IELTS for students intending to study at university.

Business EnglishWe offer a variety of Business English courses for business students and professional

people who want to make rapid improvement in their English skills for effective communi-

cation in the international business world.

Our courses include listening, speaking, reading and writing skills within a business context

through practical activities such as role plays, case studies and project work, all with refer-

ence to your own professional background.

Language practice includes taking part in meetings and negotiations, making presentations,

telephoning, dealing with different accents and styles, reports and memo writing, internet

use, emails and any other areas relevant to your workplace.

Summer Holidays

We Love Westgate

Where you want to be. London House runs a varied activity programme

including trips to many famous UK attractions, towns and

cities including London, Canterbury and Dover Castle. See

next page. In addition we hold barbeques, discos, sporting

activates, including volley ball , football, tennis and swim-

ming. We have drumming and drama workshops, go ten-

pin bowling and to the cinema. Adults can also relax in

one of our local pubs, bars or cafes. If that is not enough,

we have murder mystery evenings, international food

nights, quizzes and games .

In the summer, why not

join one of our summer courses.

These offer an ideal combination

of active language study and awide range of sports and social

activities.They last for two weeks or

longer, and you can start on any

Monday between May and Sep-

tember. You can choose to take

20 lessons (17.5 hours) or 30 les-

sons (24.5 hours) a week. Wehave classes at all levels.

Visit London our beautiful capital city.

Take one of our guided tours; see Big Ben, The

Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar

Square and much more. Go shopping in Harrods or

visit one of London's many free museums. If youwant we can arrange a visit to the famous Tower of

London or go to Madame Tussauds. Whatever you

choose to do you are sure to find it in London.


Visit historic Canterbury and its famous Cathedral. Canterbury boasts over 2000

years of History dating back to the Romans. You will also be able to visit the Canterbury Tales

museum, the Roman museum, Dane John park, go shopping or relax by the river and much

more.

Live in EnglandLiving in a host family has many advantages. You will have the chance to practise

your English throughout your stay and to make friends with English people.

We place our students with carefully selected host families who are friendly and caring

and offer a comfortable home. Our host families all live close to the school, and range

from families with children to retired couples. During the summer months some of the ac-

commodation may be a little further away but you will still be able to walk to school.

Relax at home with your friends and host family. clean , com-

fortable and convenient within walking distance of the school.
