Principal’s Report [email protected]www.lockington.vic.edu.au Phone 03 54862474 Term 1 Week 7 Thursday 14th March 2019 Don’t forget!!!! NATIONAL RIDE 2 SCHOOL DAY - FRIDAY 22ND MARCH Tomorrow is National Bullying No Way Day! At Lockington Consolidated School we acknowledge bullying can happen but we deal with it straight away and help both the bully and the student being bullied. What is Bullying??? Bullying is when someone: Keeps picking on you again and again and tries to make you feel bad. Says or does lots of mean things that upset you. Makes a lot of fun of you. Tries to stop you from joining in or tells others not to like you. Keeps hurting you such as hitting or punching you. Bullying feels awful Bullying can happen in person or online. It might be something other people can see or it can be hidden. Sometimes children might have a fight or an argument with someone. If it happens once, it is not bullying even though it can be upsetting. It is also not bullying if friends sometimes fight and they can sort it out. Bullying is not ok. You have the right to feel safe: If your child does not feel safe encourage them to get help right now from you, their teachers or another trusted adult. Why does bullying happen? It is never okay to be mean. It’s never okay to hurt others. When people bully, it might be because: They think it is cool. They get angry about something and then they take it out on someone. They are uncomfortable with people who are different from them. They lack the skills to get along with others They are copying other people Whatever the reason there is no excuse for bullying! Bullying is never ok! Indi and Lily enjoying an ice cream at the completion of their town walk yesterday. More photos inside.

Around the Classrooms As part of our Respectful Relationships sessions in Grade 3/4B we have been
discussing the different emotions that we can feel. We have identified what they
can look like and different situations that can make us feel them. The students have
enjoyed identifying both positive and negative feelings.
Over the next few weeks the junior students will be
investigating the community that we live in. They will
take part in some town walks to explore and meet
with some of the local business people, look what
services are available in our towns and what facilities
we have. Places they visited this week were the Men's
Shed, the Community Garden, the Business Centre,
the Library, Gidding’s Co Supermarket and Ciurleo’s Ice
Creamery.
