Location shots(Reconnaissance)

A small presentation, showing the shot location and highlighting any issues

that may arise whilst filming.

First Impressions

The shot location for my music video, is in a small heath, which I believe would provide the perfect setting for my music video idea.

The heath is situated on the outskirts of Dereham, around 15 miles away from my institution. The first thing I noticed after pulling into the car park of the heath was the size of the car park itself. It is smaller than I anticipated, which could pose a problem for the first phase of my video. Further to this, the car park is sometimes occupied by other vehicles. Ideally, the car would be empty whilst filming as this would add to the intensity and overall mood of the feature.

Health and safety issues. Realistically, filming in a

heath comes with it’s shortfalls. As I carried out my reconnaissance work, I realised that there were many issues that would have to be raised to ensure the welfare and safety of the cast and crew, including the filming equipment. Problems such as uprooted trees, stumps discreetly hidden and animal droppings are all issues that must be addressed.

Other issues regarding welfare included:

•Large Puddles

•Other people on set

•Old wood lying around

•Brambles

•other prickly plants

•Hidden dips in the ground

•Mud

•Slippery floors/ground.

The good points. The set for my

video is fantastic. The foliage and enigmatic settings provide the optimum backdrop for the genre of music and video style that I want to adopt.

•Whilst filming the test footage, we found that the light at around 2 o’clock was just the right amount. The pictures below demonstrate the amount of light the camera let in the pictures. This potentially means that no extra lighting equipment will be needed, which is an advantage making it easier for the crew and cast to get on and film the video itself.
