At about a four-hour drive from Lake Norman sits the W Atlanta-Downtown, a high-rise

set from the décor in the main entrance (guests are greeted with a neon-lit “W” inlaid a
wooden wall), to the 35,000-piece metal mobile that resemble flying birds. The W’s lobby
bar is outfitted with a metal fountain with basins that look like leaves, plants alongside
luxe sofas, and private seating areas surrounded by wooden slats.

Sip handcrafted cocktails expertly poured at the two bars located at the W, the Living Room and WETBAR, and the hotel has a new concept in the works set to open in 2015. Head mixologist Brian Boykin has developed a sophisticated cocktail program utilizing fresh ingredienst and a variety of liquors—and each drink looks as good as it tastes. On the 16th floor you’ll find WETBAR, Atlanta’s only all-weather poolside hot spot. The W also hosts events at their nightlife venues, like the ARTSWIM event held at WETBAR, where the hotel paired with local artists to have them paint in the bar, while a DJ spun tunes (you won’t hear radio hits in this hotel) with the Atlanta skyline as a backdrop.
For food, look no further than BLT Steak, right off the main lobby. This upscale eatery is a treat offering an array of dishes on the menu, but beef is the clear star. For those wanting to indulge, look no further than the naturally aged steaks, with cuts from hanger steak and filets, to American wagyu skirt and a porterhouse for two. Top off the skillfully broiled steak with one of BLT Steak’s sauces, like the béarnaise or chimichurri. Sides range from the rich gnocchi Parmesan to the unexpected jalapeño mashed potato. Try to save room for dessert for classics like spiced carrot cake and a bittersweet chocolate tart.
