ABOUT TALENT21
$1.4 Million in ARRA funds
All 6th & 7th Grade students receive 1:1 mobile device
BOE agreed to fund 2011 8th Grade Students
LIS & LMS Classrooms outfitted with new tech
Partnership with St. Ann School (6th grade)
All 6th-8th grade teachers participate in PD
Coaches/Mentors work in classrooms w/staff
FUNDING
The funding allows us to provide the following during the 2010-2011 school year
Grant Requirements: 1:1 mobile device for every 6th & 7th grade student Device must follow students to 7th/8th grades Grant-funded technician for grant work only (19.5 months) Grant-funded tech specialist for grant work only (19.5 months) 25% budget MUST be professional development Classrooms must be 21st century learning centers Projects must involve all content areas including related arts Evaluation & accountability must be evidence-based

From Staff Use 1:1 mobile device to enhance teaching and
learning, to provide opportunities for differentiation, to model real world problem solving skills, and to facilitate local and global collaboration and communication

From Students Use 1:1 mobile device to expand your learning
opportunities, to produce authentic and creative work, to teach and reach others, and to contribute to the global society
Be respectful of and responsible for all school property issued to students
Follow rules and regulations regarding acceptable use of school property and access to internet in and out of school
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT: PARENTS
From Parents/Guardians Monitor your child’s learning environment at home
ensuring that s/he is being respectful of and responsible for school property and following acceptable use of school property and access to the internet
Educate yourself: internet safety, 21st century skills
Provide support and encouragement to help your child earn four C’s: Creativity Critical Thinking Communication Collaboration
TRAINING:TEACHERS, STUDENTS & PARENTS
Summer & After School Institutes for Staff & Students Web 2.0 tools, device training, content-specific training
Parent Training Talent21 information session, policies & protocols,
internet safety, 21st century skills, troubleshooting & help sessions
Curriculum Integration Supervisors will work with staff to substitute
tech-rich/critical thinking lessons for existing lessons in the current curriculum
EVALUATION & ACCOUNTABILITY
Ongoing data collection: June 2010 – May 2012 Surveys, observations, focus groups, feedback from
PD, interviews, benchmark assessments, exemplars of student work, etc
Staff data collection: June 2010 - May 2012 Teacher level of technology integration using LoTI Classroom observations – outside evaluator
