PART 1 | THE ESSENTIALS

What is Live PC Give PC?

Live PC Give PC is a one-day event that encourages the greater Park City community to contribute to local nonprofit organizations through a single online giving platform on the first Friday of November. This giving day is coordinated by Park City Community Foundation in partnership with area nonprofits and brings in millions each year. What’s the goal? The vision of Live PC Give PC is to create a community where every citizen contributes to our nonprofits that help make Park City and Summit County a better place to live, work, and play.

● Grow revenue for nonprofits serving Summit County – create a new funding stream. ● Grow philanthropy in Summit County – bring new donors to our nonprofit

organizations. ● Grow supporters – educate the community about the positive impact on their lives

because of Summit County’s nonprofit organizations. How does it work? Park City Community Foundation leads and promotes the giving day and works with area nonprofits who take part in their own promotions. Through a community-wide PR and marketing campaign, people are encouraged to visit livepcgivepc.org on or before the giving day and donate to the

nonprofits. Why should my nonprofit organization participate? Live PC Give PC is an opportunity to:

1. Raise funds for your organization 2. Cultivate new donors 3. Educate community members 4. Reinvigorate lapsed donors 5. Convert check writing donors to online donors 6. Demonstrate a united, collaborative nonprofit community 7. Park City Community Foundation is offering cash grants for the top three

organizations that have the most unique donors - $2,500, $1,500, and $1,250.

PART 2 | PROMOTION & MARKETING

After 11 years of doing this giving day, Live PC Give PC has strong brand recognition in our community and people get very excited about it. The success of Live PC Give PC is dependent on all of the nonprofits and volunteers getting the word out to the whole community with creative and effective marketing. Park City Community Foundation is here to support you in that endeavor and hopes that every participating nonprofit organization will contribute to the campaign by sharing Live PC Give PC messaging with their supporters and networks. Goals of the Live PC Give PC marketing campaign:

BEFORE ARRIVING AT YOUR DONATION STATION

Equipment & Materials Needed

We invite you to be creative at your donation station or street corner – personalized decorations and signs, clothing and costumes, props. However, there are a few key items that are required for a successful station. On The Street Stations:

● Each outdoor location will be given 2 Live PC Give PC campaign signs. The first shift at each location should plan to pick up at our designated pickup days, November 3-4.

Indoor Donation Stations: ● Each “indoor” station will be given a flyer with a QR code.

Please encourage donors to donate at livepcgivepc.org, or by scanning the QR code. We will have these signs available for you on November 3-4, or can be printed at home. *Please note, each location has unique Covid regulations and may be indoors or outdoors

All Volunteers – Your Responsibility to Bring:

● Nonprofit-specific signage. ● Table, tablecloth, any hard good needs

Also Available for Volunteers

● Live PC Give PC T-Shirts – Pickup November 3-4

TIPS FOR A FUN & SUCCESSFUL DONATION STATION

Clothing Dress warmly! If you are inside, there is a good chance you’ll be stationed near an entryway. You are invited to wear a Live PC Give PC T-shirt, but feel free to wear something that supports your nonprofit or your own personal style.

Page 10: LIVE PC GIVE PC

Materials Please do not bother the location manager or staff for simple supplies. You know you are going to need stuff, so plan accordingly and bring with you:

● Tape, scissors, notebook, and pens ● Sign-hanging materials – we recommend 3M hooks – they are

cheap, easy to set up, work on multiple surfaces, and don’t leave a mark when removed.

Read Talking Points Info

It’s important that we all work and speak from the same playbook. So we’ve provided talking points and detailed information on key program elements – see 2021 Live PC Give General Information at https://www.livepcgivepc.org/giving-events/pc21/voltoolkit Don’t be afraid to tell someone you don’t know the answer to a question. If this happens, refer them to HQ or take down their contact info and a Park City Community Foundation staff member will do their best to get back to them that day.

HOW TO GENERATE EXCITEMENT FOR YOUR STATION

Promote on Social Media

Share photos, stories, hashtags, and updates from your station throughout the day at: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/parkcitycf/ Instagram https://www.instagram.com/parkcitycf/ Twitter https://twitter.com/parkcitycf/

Don’t Be Shy If you feel uncomfortable asking outright for a donation, try the following:

● Ask them what they like to do with their free time while in PC. It is more than likely that one of these activities has a connection to a participating nonprofit. A few examples include:

○ Hiking – Mountain Trails ○ Play with Pet – Nuzzles & Co. ○ Attend Music Concerts – Mountain Town Music ○ Go to The Movies – Park City Film Series

Page 11: LIVE PC GIVE PC

Get Creative Think of fun ways to draw attention from passersby without interfering with ongoing business at your location – wear fun/silly outfits, bring lots of signage and props, play music (but not too loud), etc.

TROUBLESHOOTING

A Donor Tries to Give Cash, Check

For various technical, ethical, and legal reasons, we ask that you do not accept cash/check donations. But money is money, and we never want to turn away a donor. So if they cannot or will not make their donation online, please direct them to HQ, where we can complete their transaction and ensure the donation is included in the day’s total giving.

Credit Card Is Declined or Double-charged

Please contact Mightycause at [email protected] or 866-437-1952.

Did Not Receive Donation Confirmation Email

This could be a result of a different email account used when the Mightycause account was created. Ask if they have recently switched email providers (gone from Yahoo to Gmail, a new work email) or account was established by a spouse/partner. If this does not resolve the issue, contact Mightycause at [email protected] or 866-437-1952.

Letter to the Editor Template

A great way to spread the word about Live PC Give PC is to send a short note to the Park Record or any local publication. Many papers will publish these in their “Letters to the Editor” section. It is a great opportunity to help us reach our goal of a community where every citizen supports nonprofit organizations. You can link to Park Record’s Letter to the Editor submission page here: http://www.parkrecord.com/opinion/send-a-letter/. A few things to keep in mind when submitting a letter to the editor:

Submit anytime, but no later than Monday, October 25, 2021. Include your name, daytime and nighttime phone numbers, and home (street) address.

Personalize It! Use this as a guide, but make sure you edit to make it unique.

Keep the letter short. Short letters are more likely to be printed. Letters to the Editor are usually no more than 150-200 words. The Park Record limits Letters to the Editor to 300 words and Guest Editorials to 600 words.

Follow up. Especially with smaller papers, it will often help to call the person responsible for the letters-to-the-editor after you mail it. If they can connect a real person with the letter, they are much more likely to print it. To reach Bubba Brown, Editor of the Park Record, call 435-649-9014 or email [email protected].

SAMPLE LETTER TO THE EDITOR – PLEASE CUSTOMIZE THIS TO YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE!

Park City is an incredible place to call home.

Every day, nonprofit organizations enrich our lives and the lives of our fellow community members. Think about your favorite parts of our town – maybe it’s (your nonprofit’s impact). Maybe it’s a walk on a favorite trail with your adopted dog. Or maybe you drop your children off at school or at a camp – supported by donor dollars and nonprofit organizations. What is your favorite place to bring an out-of-town guest? Is it a museum, a concert, a festival? Who helps make that possible?

On November 5, 2021, Park City Community Foundation, (your nonprofit), and all nonprofit organizations are inviting you to support the community, organizations, services, events, people, and places that you love. On this single day, we are asking everyone to visit livepcgivepc.org and support the organizations that make our lives vibrant and uniquely Park City.

Page 16: LIVE PC GIVE PC

On November 5, I’m going to support the community that I want to live in – one that cares about (your nonprofit’s challenges) and one that values community and local causes. And my support might just be doubled – through matching challenge grants and prizes.

I urge every community member to join the fun and support (your nonprofit) and all of your other favorite organizations on this special day. Visit livepcgivepc.org to learn more.
