Frederick graduatecHrom Bangor: High School and the Ohmer Business School at Dayton, Ohio. He was a past master of Horeb Lodge 93 AF & AM of Lincoln and was a member of the Anoh Temple Shrine. Mr. Littlefield had been employed for several years for Webber Oil Co. in its Bangor and Lincoln oHices. He Is survived by his wife, Madeline (Shannon) Littlefield of Old Town; one son and daughter-In-law, Jeffrey A. and Carolyn Littlefield of Windham, N.H.; one sister, Mrs. Gordon (Doris) Chapman of Portland; one grandson, Justin Littlefield; several nieces and nephews. Private funeral se{Vices will be conducted at the convenience of the family. BENNINGTON, Vt. - Freeland W. Littlefield, 72, of Bank Street Extension, died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Portland, Maine, son of Frederick . W. and Habel Huntoon Littlefield, attended South Portland Maine schools and graduated from South Portland High School.
In 1929 he married Phyllis Jordan and in 1959 ; he married Barbara Anderson Bennett.
Mr. Littlefield had been a sales engineer and project manager on various government contracts in South Portland, Ellsworth, Maine, ,
·Michigan, and Bennington. He retired in 1973 as supervisor of quality control at Stanley Tools, South Shaftsbury.
He was very active in various Masonic organizations in Maine and Vermont and was a member and former trustee of the First United Methodist Church in Bennington.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert J . of Hookset, N.H:,; two stepsons, Stephen and Wayne Bennett; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral was held 6ere Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest City Cemwry. South Portl'and.

AUBURN - Harland A Littlefield. 90, of 184 'Whitney SL died Saturday at a Le"'iston hospital.
He was born in East Stoneham, a son of Virgil H. and Georgia Putnam LitUefield. and was a graduate of , Norway High School and Shaw's Business CoUege, Portland. I
In September 1926, he began working at the flrst I Auburn Trust Co. He wori<ed his way up through several departments and in 1948 was elected assistant to the president In 1953, he was elected treasurer and beld \ that office until the company merged with Casco Bank and Trust Co. in 1960. At that time be was elected vice 1 president and manager of the Auburn office, and held I that position until retiring in June 1972.
In his early years, be attended the High Street Congregational Church and later attended the United 1 Methodist Church or Auburn. 1
On OcL 8, 1929, he manied Catherine A Bany. She , died OcL 25, 1987.
He manied the fonner Wlllllifred Stetson on Nov. 12, 1988.
He was a member of the Twin City Council, United Commercial Travelers of America, and served as secret.aiy-treasW"er for 27 years.
He was a 54-year member of the Tranquil Masonic Lodge, a member of the Lewiston Lodge of Perfection, Auburn Council Princes of Jerusalem. H.H. Dickey Chapter Rose Croix. Maine Consistory VaUey of Portland 32nd degree and the Kora Temple Shrine.
Surviving are his wife of Auburn; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mary Ann> }!eniD of Augusta; a son. John P. or Littleton. Mass. ; a stepdaughter, Sharon Clark of Auburn; a stepson, Gordan A Faunce of Lewiston; four. grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildreo.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday a t Plumm~r and Menill Funeral Home, Turner and Center street), where a funeral will be held at t p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Stoneham.

Surviving besides his wife, are a daughter, Ruth Carr of Camden; a stepson, Morton Billings of Carlisle, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Parkinson of Falmouth and Glenna Adams of Cape Elizabeth; a brother, Lawrence Littlefield of Castine; three sisters, Alice Dort of Hampden, Effie Carenza of Bristol, Conn., and Ph~is Monroe of Camden; two grandchildren and a great· grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery. Arrangement are by Laite Funeral Home.

SOMERVILLE - John Frederick Littlefield Sr .. 62. of Route 17. formerly of Montville, died Tuesday at Kennebec Valley Medical Center Emergency Room, Augusta.
He was born in Belfast. a son of Lyle and Ora Danforth Littlefield. He attended schools in Montville and Walker High School in Liberty.
He manied Wendy Onie Rand on May 26. 1978. For many years. Mr. Littlefield was a crane operator
for construction companies in the area. He retired nine years ago.
He moved here 10 years ago from Windsor. He was a member of Unity Masonic Lodge in
Thorndike and Union Harvest Grange in Montville. Surviving. besides his wife, are six sons. Earl of
Thorndike, Roger of Freedom, John F. Jr. of Knox. Terry of Montville. Jason Daigneau of Northfield. N.H., and Mike Daigneau of Windsor: three daughters. Donna Bailey of Montville, Diane Grivois of Oakland. and Sarah Smith of Lewiston; a brother, Clayton of Knox; a sister. Edith Young of Waldo; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Gray & Pratt Funeral Home, Windsor Neck Road. Wmdsor. The Rev. John Dancer will officiate. B~ will be ~ri~ate.

NEW GLOUCESTER - Keith E. Littlefield, 68, died Monday at his residence.
He was born in Hollis, a son of Eddie A and Emma Roberts Littlefield. and attended Kennebunk High School.
During World War II, he served in the Navy as an electrician's mate third class in Normandy and Africa
Mr. Littlefield graduated from the Maine State Police Academy and served 20 years before retiring in 1975. He belonged to the Yoric Masonic Lodge and the Blue
· Knights Motorcycle Club. Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Donna Walker
Littlefield of New Gloucester; two stepsons, Robert

He was born on Cbebeape Q1aD4. son of Geo~:~e and Eliza TbomllfOD Littlefield and attended IChools iJa Y armouth.
He nwrled Alice Dunning on Sept. 15, 1918 in Fal· mouth ForesJde. Mrs. Littlefield died May 14, 1988.
Mr. Littlefield and his wife came to Farmington in 1916, where he owned and operated a clothing store for many years. He was a member of the Masons and the Shrine.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald of Sag Harbor, N.Y., and G. Alden of Hillsboro, Fla.; a sister, Miss Martha Lit· tlefieid of Portland; two granddaughters and five great· grandchildren.
There will be no funeral.

SANGERVILLE - Merle F. Littlefield Sr., r7, died March 26, 1987, at the Veterans Hospital, Togus. He was born July 10, 1899, In Abbot, the son of Ora and Gertrude (Roberts) liHie· field. He served in the U.S. Army dur· ing World War I and was CIWOfded a Purple Heart. He graduated from Show Business College, Portland, class of 1922. Mr. Littlefield was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post of Guilford and also a member of the American Le· gion Post of Sangerville. He was a member of the Mt. Klneo Masonic Lodge, Guilford and a member of the Big Pine Gun Club, Sangerville. He, worked in woolen mills, bath in Guilford and New Hampshire until the early 1950's, when he purchased The Log Cobin Restaurant, Greenville. He
later purchased the Ruye Nuning Home, Sangerville, which he operat· ed until his retirement in the late 1960's. He is survived by his wife, Eva (Whittier) Littlefield of Sangerville; three sons. ALFRED - Milton Littlefield, 67, of Kennebunk Road, died Friday in Hollis as a result of a motor vehicle accidenl
He was hom in Alfred, a son of A Guy and Alice <CiarltJ Littlefield He attended A!ired schools and was a lifelong resident here.
He semld in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Littlefield was employed for 20 years at Cyro in
Sanford, retiring in 1963. He then owned and operated the Alfred Machine Shop. '
He was a member of. the Bl'OWJJ. Emmons Post, American Legion. and the Frat.emal Masonic Lodge, both in Alfred. He was also a fOnner member of the

A daughter, Vu-ginia Lavoie, and two grandchildren, died in 1979.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Gladys Muchmore Littlefield of Alfred; two sons, Paul Littlefield of San Diego, Calif., and Robert Littlefield of Alfred; three daughters, Patricia Ford-McComb of East Waterboro, Janice Landly of Sanford, and Shirley Littlefield of Limerick; a brother, Wayne Little6eld of Boston; and eight grandchildren

Mr. Littlefield born Apa 1, 1888, In this city, son of Fred H . and Fannie Bennett Littlefield. He was araduated from Portland High School and from the University of Maine In 1910 with a degree of bachelor or science In engineering.
After his graduation from college he was employed by the Maine Central Railroad as ticket agent at Union Station and as a telegrapher. During the World War he was employed by the S. D. Warren Company at Westbrook and at the same time as a telegrapher at the railroad station here.
Subsequently Mr. Littlefield was salesman for the Good!'ear Rubber Company at Springfield, Mass., before :he entered the employ of the Texa&• Company.
He was a member of the Masons and the Odd Fellows and was registered Ill an engineer by the Maine State Board of Engineering.
Survivln~t are hils widow, Mrs. Louise H. Littlefield, whom he married Oct 14, 1912, at Belfast; hla lltepmother, Mrs. Julia T . He was born in Medford March 22, 1909, the son of Alfred H. and Stella (Tunks) Littlefield. Mr. Littlefield was a retired foreman of the sawmill for the Stowell-MacGregor Co., hav· 1
ing worked both in Dover-Foxcroft and Dixfield. He was a past member of the Masonic Composite Lodge 168. He hod been active in bath the United Baptist Church in Dover-Foxcroft and the Dover-Foxcroft Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by two sons, Mervin F. Littlefield, ond his wife, Joan, of Milford, and Maurice H. Lit· tlefield and his wife. Marlene, of Holden; one sister, Minnie· Emery, of Guilford; four grandchildren, Lourie Littlef~ld of Bangor, Mrs. Craig (Julie) LaRou of Portland, Terri Sue Littlefield of Orlando, Fla., Alisha Williams of Holden; one great-grandson, Brodley Scott LaRou of Portland. Hillside Lane died Sunday at York Hospital after a lengthy illness with heart disease.
He was born in Dover, N.H., a son of Howard R and Zana Hasty Littlefield, and was a 1958 graduate of Wells High School He served in the Navy.
Mr. Littlefield was employed for 33 years by Howard R Littlefield & Sons, building contractors of Ogunquit, and became a partner.
He was a member of the Ogunquit Baptist Church and of the Ocean Masonic Lodge of Wells. He had a lifetime interest in flower and vegetable gardening.
His first wife, Marijane Brown Littlefield, died in 198&. Surviving are his wife, Virginia L. Philbrick Littlefield
of Ogunquit; a son, Eric M. of Ogunquit; his parents of Ogunquit; a brother, Gary H. of Ogunquit; a sister, Shirley Littlefield-Wagenseil of New London, N.H.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long SandS Road, York. The Rev. Wesley Mills will officiate. Burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells.

Roger B. Littlefield, 72, ·of North Berwick, member of Kora Temple of Lewiston, died ~tedly Tbpay mommg.
Born In North Berwick, the son of William R. and Harriette Weare Littlefield, he graduated from Berwick Academy In 1923 and from Wentwotth Institute, Boston, in 1925.
A retired contractor, he served many years as selectman and school board member. He was a member of Beacon Light Chapter, OES; a 50-year member and past member of Yorkshire Lodge, AF&AM, and the Scottish Rites Bodies; and was a 32nd degree Mason.
He served two terms In the Maine Legislature as a representative from Wells and North Berwick, beginning in 1969, and was a director of the Northeast Bank of Sanford several years.
Besides his wife, the former Margaret Kakosch, Mr. Littlefield he Is survived by two sons, Roger C. of North Berwick and Larry of Augusta; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Patricia) Wilson of North Berwick; a step-son, Ingo Roemer of Dover, N.H.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Inka Neiswenger of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; two brothers, Keith of West Peru and William R. Jr. of Sanford: a sister, Mrs.

OGUNQUIT - Roy Cedric Littlefield, 63, of 33 Main St. died Thursday at York Hospital etter a brief illness.
He was the husband of Ethel Garnett Lit11e11eld. Born in Wells, he wu a son of James H.ud Wllbe,Oli·
na Adams Littlefield. He attended Wells sehools. Mr. Littlefield was a Navy veteran of World War II
and the Korean Confiict. He was employed for 37 years by the New England
Telephone Co. in Wells and York as an installation and maintenance technician. He retired in April.
He was a member of the Masons, the Ogunquit Fire Department, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the International Brotherhood of El~ Wprkers, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Opnlltait Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Ogunquit; a son, James E. of Moody; a daughter, Mrs. Hampton (Joan) McDaniel of Fayetteville, M:C.; two brothers, Richard Littlefield and James R. Hayes, both of Ogunquit; a sister, Esther L. Perkins of Ogunquit, and four grandchildren.

, laekson, AprD 5. - Thurland C. Littlefield, 38, whose home Ia In Pittsfield and JlhO was conducting a woods operation in Jackson, was fatally injured tltis morning when the tractor he was operating overturned, pinning hlm beneath ft.
He was discovered about noon by a mall c a: r r 1 e r, Malcolm Blanchard, who was covering hiS route. Blanchard summoned assiataf\Ce, and with the aid of a J~. succeeded In extricating Llttl~fleld, but he died on way to the hospital in Belfast.
He leaves widow, Sarah KenDedy Littlefield and a son, Bernard, 11 yeara old; parents, Charles 'pd Mary Ann Carter Littlefield; a siSter, Blanche Bennett, Pittsfield ; flve brothers, Albert. Royce Uld Bdwln or Jackson, Don of Corinna and Clayton of MontVOle.

. DAMARISCO'ITA - Walter Littlefield Jr., 74, of Damariscotta died Friday at Mid-Maine Medical Center in Waterville.
He was born in Prospect, a son of Walter and Alice Menitt Littlefield Sr.
Mr. Littlefield attended school in Prospect, Frankfort and Searsport. ·
During World War II he se!Ved in the Navy in the South Pacific.
Mr. Littlefield retired from Bath Iron Works after 32 years.
He was a past master IX the Masonic lodge in Brunswick.
He is sunived by his wile, Madelyn Hunt Littlefield of Damariscotta; three sons, Stephen of Topsham, David of : Brunswick and James of Scarllorough; a sister, Velma Stairs of Searsport; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Second Congregational Church of NeWcastle, with the Rev. George Atkinson officiating. Arrangements are by the-Hall Funeral ,Home, Waldoboro.
