FALL PLEDGE DRIVE SEPT. 14 - OCT. 5 SUPPORT KBOO! Our goal for the Fall Pledge Drive is $175,000, and this fall KBOO has the opportunity to secure government matching funds from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. If we collect enough local funds by September 30, KBOO will be eligible to receive an additional $250,000 in govern- ment funding over the next four years! Help to secure the financial future of your community radio station by pledging your support. During the drive, you can call 503/232-8818 or 1-877/500-5266 to join or renew. If you want to donate online, visit www.kboo.fm, and click “Join.” Donate to your favorite program, choose a thank-you gift, and pay by credit card, bill, monthly deduction — or just print the form and mail in a check. MATCHING GIFTS Make your gift to KBOO go even farther… If you are able to give a gift of at least $500, consider doubling your money by sponsoring a matching challenge during the drive. You can offer to match every gift during the show of your choice up to the amount you choose. It’s a great way to motivate others so that we can reach our goal and end the pledge drive early! To make a matching gift, please contact at Jana Daisy-Ensign at: [email protected] or 503/231-8032, ext. 207. This year, seven spots on a 12-member Board of Directors are up for election, and 19 members are in the race. As KBOO citizens, you decide. There are three ways to get informed: • Read the written candidate statements that come with your ballot. • Tune in to the live on-air candidate debates, 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday Sept. 6 through Thursday Sept. 8. • Come to the KBOO annual membership meeting, to meet the candidates, ask them ques- tions, and extract their promises — before you cast your ballot in person. [Ballots can also be mailed in, if you’re unable to attend the annual meeting.] KBOO ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING Sunday Sept. 25, 1:00 - 3:00 pm, Nocturnal, 1800 E. Burnside, Portland Food and drink provided. All KBOO members welcome. KBOO’s Annual Membership Meeting is the one time of the year members come together as a body — to meet each other, tell Board and staff members what you think, and learn more about the station, including how you can become more involved. KBOO’s Board President and Station Manager will give you an update on the health and direction of the station. And you’ll have a chance to meet, hear, and question candidates for the Board of Directors of your radio station before turning in your ballot at 2:00 pm. Then, ballots will be counted — those mailed in plus those cast in person — and the newly elected Board will be announced. KBOO is an experiment in media democracy. It survives on your dues.
