2016 SEASON• Made his fifth consecutive Opening Day start.• In an injury-plagued season made just 65 apps for the Rays but

still produced 7 HR and 15 extra-base hits.• Was disabled twice, in July with a strained left hamstring and in

August with a bruised left knee.• Made his last appearance of the season on 8/2 vs KC...the next

day went on the disabled list with the left knee injury and didn’t play again the rest of the season.• On 8/26 was released by the Rays.• On 2/9/17 was signed by the Reds to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League spring

training camp.

2015: Appeared in just 28 games because of left knee injuries that required 2 stints on the disabled list and arthroscopic surgery on 6/10 to relieve inflammation in the tissue.

2014: Became 1 of only 7 Major League players to produce at least 10 HR and 10 stolen bases in each of 4 straight seasons from 2011-2014.

2013: On 4/20 vs Oak turned an unassisted double play, caught a Coco Crisp fly ball and stepped on first base on the way to the dugout to retire baseruner Eric Sogard...was the first unassisted double play by a center fielder since Pit’s Andy Van Slyke did it on 77/92 vs Hou, retiring baserunner Ken Caminiti...started all 5 Postseason games and hit .313, third-best on the team.

2012: Was a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove Award after leading Major League outfielders with a 1.000 fielding percentage (224tc)...on 7/3 vs NYY stole home on the front end of a double steal...in the 4-2 win on 6/29 vs Det became only the fourth player to homer twice in a game off Justin Verlander.

2011: In Game 3 of the ALDS vs Tex, homered off Colby Lewis and Mike Adams to become only the seventh rookie ever to hit 2 HR in a Postseason game and the first to do it from the leadoff spot.

PERSONAL: Attended Itawamba Community College in Fulton, MS...in high school was heavily recruited as a receiver and in 2004 was Alabama’s Mr. Football Award runnerup...cousin Andre Smith, a right offensive tackle at the University of Alabama, was selected by the Bengals with the sixth overall pick of the 2009 NFL draft.

2014: An injury-plagued season began in spring training, when on 3/7 vs the Cubs he ran into an outfield wall and missed 11 days with knee and wrist injuries...in August spent time on the disabled list with inflammation in his right wrist...his season ended at Det on 9/13, when he hyperextended his left knee making a throw from right field...missed the last 14 games of the season...on 9/19 had arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn lateral meniscus.

2013: In his first season with the Indians ranked fourth on the club with 16 HR despite just 277 plate apps...were the most homers by any Major League batter with fewer than 300 plate apps...with enough qualifying at bats would have ranked third in the American League with an RBI ratio of 4.4...on 4/29 at KC and 4/30 vs Phi became the 11th Indian and first since Travis Hafner in 2004 to homer twice in consecutive games...added 4 more hits on 5/1 vs Phi to become only the fourth player in the last 75 years to produce in any 3-game span 11 hits and 4 HR (Duke Snider 1955, Kirby Puckett 1987, Shawn Green 2002)...was named AL Batter of the Week for 4/29-5/5 (13-22, .591, 4hr 9rbi), including a stretch in which he became the first player since 2009 to produce 11 hits within 12 at bats...beginning 8/14 appeared in only 17 games the rest of the season because of a strained left Achilles...on 8/8 vs Det pitched a perfect ninth inning in the 10-3 loss, striking out Matt Tuiasosopo.

2011: In a career-high 121 apps played 1B, 2B, 3B, LF, CF and RF...in 17 games in September hit .383, fourth-best in the American League for that month.
