The Tail Twister’ s Challenge for April‘s
first meeting will be to bring a small toy
or stuffed animal for the Lion’s Easter Egg
Hunt. The second meeting will be to bring Easter candy.

50/50 DRAWING 3/6/14 & 3/20/14
At the General Meeting on March 6, 2014,
your editor, Lion Sally Carter, won the 50/50
drawing! It was the first time winning for
me! The drawing was for $48.00. Yippee!
It was Foster Rein winning the 50/50 drawing
at the General Meeting on March 20, 2014.
Lucky Lion Foster won $44.00. I believe this
was his first time winning. Congratulations
Foster!
STUDENT SPEAKER WINNER
The winner of our Student Speaker Contest held in February
2014, was Miss Katrina Staples. Katrina and her Mother joined
us at our General Meeting on March 6, 2014. Katrina gave an
outstanding speech regarding “Community Service”.
In addition, Katrina won the Zone Speaker’s contest repre-
senting the Foothill Lions Club. And, Katrina will participate in
the Region Speaker’s contest on March 25, 2014 at 7:00 pm in
Marysville.
Congratulations to this fine young lady and her family.
Katrina will go far with whatever she chooses to pursue in her
life. JOB WELL DONE!

on March 8th was Lion Ms.
Gertie’s fantastic Meatloaf
Dinner with all the fixiins!
Everyone enjoyed the wonder-
ful food prepared by Lion Ger-
tie and her team. The money earned from this event
is “earmarked” for the expenses of the renovations to
the ladies restroom. New tile,
new stalls and a pretty makeover!

Lion Paul Halcomb conducted the induction cere-
mony for new Lion member Carol Cecil, who was
sponsored by Lion Susie Trundy. Lion Carol has
completed all requirements to be a Lion member.

MARCH CRAB/SHRIMP DINNER!
The final crab/shrimp dinner
was a sold-out success. All
had their fill of the succulent
crab and shrimp with all the
fixings.
Chairman Lion Roberta Hal-
comb and her team outdid
themselves with this function.
Congratulations! Now we have to wait until
later this year for the Lioness dinner !
The 4-H members did
an outstanding job
serving the crowd who
were definitely hungry
for this feast! A big
“shout-out” to these
young people for all
their hard work.
The hall was packed
with people and all
had a good time and
certainly enjoyed all
the action.
The raffle prizes were
plentiful thanks to the
many donations from the membership.

Wow! What a great community outreach and once
again a very successful crab/shrimp feed. Everyone
enjoyed the fellowship and the menu of orderves,
yummy salad, hot bread, scrumptious pasta, crab,
shrimp, wine and “those homemade cookies” The
raffle was a hit too!
Thank you to all who “stepped up to the
plate” and helped. Thank you to all that
bought tickets and enjoyed this feast.
Thank you to the 4-H for all their help! Job well
done! Now we wait for next year’s Spring Crab/

Chairman Lion Joni requests that members bring
Easter candy, plastic eggs for stuffing, and new
stuffed animals to any meeting before Easter Sun-
day. The local children enjoy our annual event so
much so let’s make it a great one! Lion Joni hopes

Called to order @ 6:03 PM

New potential member Carol Cecil was present at Board meeting, she moved here from Bay Area, married to Richard
Cecil, neighbor and friend of Susie, best friend is Joni…………has met all of her membership obligations. Board voted
unanimously to invite Carol into the Foothill Lions Club.
Financial report given by Lion Treasurer Susie. MD-4 dues $1200 to be paid in March. Motion to accept financial report,
Sheri, 2nd Gary, Passed. Then Lion Linda handed treasurer bill for materials used in entryway renovation. Quite a discus-
sion ensued about Club Manager having authority to authorize $300 spending without board approval. (Club Manager is
budgeted $500.00 per month without going to Board of Directors for permission). Tempers hot, many differences of
opinions as to interpretation of Bylaws. Bottom line, billed paid out of ADMIN account.
Lion Linda now has membership cards thanks to Lion Jean Marie for printing them.
Lion Susie is applying for playground grant and meeting with equipment people for “guesstimate”.
Lion President Kim read Thank you from Salvation Army.
Foothill School needs $25000.00 for new stage, has raised $14000. Lion Susie made notion to donate $500 after March
15 Crab Feed. 2nd Gary, Motion passed.
CCI selling tickets to raise $$; we will send them the $510.00 we have collected.
Special thanks to Lion Sheri Vess for donating her profits from Chili Verdi Dinner to bathroom fund.
4C-1 letter asking for compensation to Governors denied.

Foothill’s student speaker winner could have a prac-
tice run for her next competition (Region-March 25
@ Packard Library, Marysville; 7PM.)
This secretary thought the best quote of the speech
was “Best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in
the service of others”
Dinner was served and President thanked Lioness for
dinner.
Introduction of guests: Lynette Stevens, Carol and
Dick Cecil, Roger Warner, Kyron, Victoria, and finally
Vanna was back!
Tail Twister collected $1.00 from everyone who did-
n’t bring something associated w/St. Patrick’s Day.

Lion Susie: Adopt a Highway Sat @ 9AM. Susie to
meet with Miracle Recreation for Playground Equip-
ment; learned sand is not the best ground cover in
playgrounds anymore, they are now using special

Tracy Cross is bringing in sand for Horseshoe Pits.
Lion Gert serving Meatloaf for Monday night dinner
to raise more $$ for bathroom fund. Planning on 60
people; there will be a raffle of donated items.
Lion Mike announced St Patrick’s Day March 17, free
corned beef and fixings cooked by Lion Joni and
Susie (free to patrons, bar paying for supplies) cus-
tomer appreciation for supporting Monday night
comfort foods.
March 24 will be Lion Janet’s Shepherds Pie.

March 15 Crab Feed, need raffle prizes as this is a big

Lion Steve Ball, undergoing Chemo, still needs
our prayers. Lion John Downs has been having
problems for a few weeks. Lion Peggy Sparks
hurt her elbow at work and has not been able to
bartend lately. We have been notified that Lion
Lee Zamlich is having serious surgery on her
heart. She needs our prayers!
Your editor, that’s me, is feeling much better and
on the road to full recovery!!!!! No further infor-
mation about Lion Sierra after her auto accident.
We all hope she is healing and feeling better.
