These will be sown with grass and running over them won’t help with things growing. Reminder that teacher only day is Monday the 10 th August – no school that day. You may have noticed that the office is now up and running in the new building, as is my office to a certain extent. We are using the hall and hope to have out first assembly in it in a couple of weeks. Watch for this in the newsletter. The old office block is being used and changed over for our literacy groups so children will be coming and going from there throughout the day. The spaces this provides give the children plenty of room to work in and now that they have found the new offices, they know exactly where to go. The school has had quite a few new enrolments this term and we are now at 420 children in the school, so we are getting quite big in certain areas and levels. The prefab, that will be room 4, is coming along nicely. The gate to this building site, that sits on Linwood Avenue, should be closed at the beginning and end of the school days but please keep an eye on your children that they don’t venture into the site as it is dangerous in there. On that, just a wee reminder that school finishes at 3pm. Please do not pick up your child before that time – the last 30 minutes are important times for sharing information and learning. I am aware we did relax this during level 2 but we would like our children to stay until 3 please. Thanks Trevor Proctor Acting Principal

South East Zone Cross Country

Congratulations to our team of year 6 boys who qualified for and participated in the South East Zone cross-country. The event was held at Heathcote Valley Park on Tuesday afternoon in very cold conditions. They performed well and were in the middle of the pack of 42 runners. Mataio, Jakob, Hasnain, Apera and Murunui gave a very creditable performance, and we are very proud of their efforts and their good sportsmanship. Many thanks to Ms Meha and Ms Knowles for their work with the running club, and support for these boys.

iSport Foundation A team of students got to play cricket with Richie McCaw at the Hagley Oval yesterday. It was part of an iSport Foundation event promoting active kids.

Parents - Year 6 Chi ldren. There was an error in the letter that went home Monday. Chisnallwood Intermediate is for year 7 and 8 children only. It does NOT go up to year 13. Our apologies for this error.
