• Go to your name in the top right corner photo icon and drop down to “Privacy/Se:ngs”.
• Under profile tab, “Turn on/off How You Rank”: Uncheck this so LinkedIn doesn’t share how you compare to others.
• “Turn on/off your acQvity broadcasts”: Do NOT have it checked or everyone will get an update every Qme you make changes to your LinkedIn profile.
• “What others see when you’ve viewed their profile”: Check “you will be totally anonymous” or people will see you were looking at them.
• “Change your profile photo & visibility”: Check “Everyone” and add photo.
• “Edit Public Profile”: Make sure all is checked so people can find you no ma`er how connected they are.
• Under Groups, Companies & ApplicaQons, click on “Turn on/off noQficaQons when joining Groups” so this doesn’t hit your updates.

honors & awards you have received • Add skills-‐ include skills you want to be known for/try to use skills already
populated • Personal informaQon-‐ do not list full b-‐day-‐ add cell and use work email as
primary email • Contact se:ngs: Click all boxes under opportunity preferences and consider
lisQng something like “I’m open to networking and you can email me at [email protected]”
• Use Email tool to invite people you know to your network

LinkedIn Search
• Quoted searches -‐ For an exact phrase, enclose the phrase in quotaQon marks (e.g. "product manager").
• NOT searches -‐ To exclude a parQcular term, type that term with an uppercase NOT immediately before it (e.g. programmer NOT manager).
• OR searches -‐ To see results that include 1 or more terms in a list, separate the terms with an uppercase OR (e.g. sales OR markeQng).
• AND searches -‐ To get results that must include 2 or more terms in a list, you can use the upper-‐case word AND as a separator (e.g. manager AND director). Note: You don't need to use AND. If you search 2 or more terms, you'll automaQcally see results that include all of them.
• ParentheQcal searches -‐ To do a complex search, you can combine terms using parentheses. For example, to find people who have "VP" in their profiles, or have both director AND division in their profiles, type: VP OR (director AND division).
